Human Factors Researcher

As a Human Factors Researcher at Backbone, you'll have the ability to help shape the future of our product strategy and in turn the future of gaming. As the first hire within the human factors discipline, you'll also play a key role in defining the role of human factors and ergonomics within the organization.

What you'll need

    • Understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and biomechanical analysis tools and techniques
    • This role requires expertise in both designing and building prototyping platforms and tools for ergonomic and anthropometric evaluation
    • 3+ years lab experience: data collection (calibration, recording data, and processing) and data analysis
    • Experience with mechanical, biomechanical, anthropometrical, animation, perception and physiological data
    • Experience with biomechanical modeling & simulations
    • Experience working on gaming or AR/VR devices
    • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills

What you'll be doing

    • Collect and analyze biomechanical and physiological test data to understand the user’s experience and point of view; complete human factors assessments of products and experiences in all stages of design
    • Autonomously drive and influence smart device architecture through the creation of research prototypes that demonstrate the tradeoffs between user needs, device wearability, and device performance
    • By helping define our products with human factors in mind you will help create a holistic product experience at the highest standards for players by optimizing for human factors and ergonomics
    • Collaborate closely with teams within Data Science, Software Engineering, Core Product, Hardware Engineering, User Research, and Industrial Design
    • Engage the wider academic community through impactful publications
