The Accounting Manager is responsible for being the finance and accounting lead for BAMKOs e-commerce programs and related inventory. Primary responsibilities of this role will include ownership of inventory accounting to ensure completeness, accuracy, and existence in reporting along with managing the accounting functions and reporting of our portfolio of e-commerce stores. In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining related SOX processes, risk assessments, and design and effectiveness of internal controls. This position will continuously drive process improvement and new process implementation by collaborating with IT, finance, operations and various business partners on short, medium and long-term solutions for automation along with various ad hoc projects.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in technical accounting and controls related to inventory and possess a mix of analytical (or public/technical accounting) and operational skills. The candidate is expected to be an end-to-end process owner in supporting BAMKOs e-commerce business, execute judgment to keep projects moving forward, ensure the right decisions are made, and escalate risks as necessary to leadership. This position will require dealing with ambiguity and having the ability to reprioritize based on business needs, as it will often support several projects simultaneously.
What YOU will do:
· Oversee e-commerce accounting operations including, all transactions related to inventory receipts and fulfillment, invoicing and reporting to customers, and payment transactions (deposits, chargebacks, payment application and tracking funds on account).
· Be the finance lead for new webstore implementations, day-to-day webstore operations and webstore closures, working with other stakeholders including sales, IT, operations, and customers.
· Review customer contracts to identify, advise on, and execute key financial terms and ensure proper accounting treatment.
· Manage all aspects of inventory accounting including appropriate application of GAAP as related to inventory, physical counts, adjustments, SOX controls, and analysis and reporting.
· Review and assist in month-end close to ensure accurate and timely reporting in compliance with GAAP. Including as necessary, reviewing journal entries, analysis of inventory and/or e-commerce programs and other high level accounting functions related to this department.
· Review and assist in reconciliations of major balance sheet accounts and calculation of contract revenue in accordance with ASC 606.
· Evaluate internal controls and process, implements new ones as needed and improves existing controls in compliance with SOX. Including partnering with operations and warehouse management to maintain and execute consistent procedures related to inventory management and controls and oversee physical and cycle counts at multiple warehouses.
· Manage and provide leadership, development, and oversight to our overseas and domestic e-commerce accounting team.
· Review processes and recommend modifications to existing process and put in place new processes to drive financial accuracy, efficiency, and automation. Including both systematic and nonsystematic process.
· Coordinate required information for the external audit as needed and interact directly with our external auditors to provide information and explanations.
Who YOU are:
· CPA required
· Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting.
· 2+ years public accounting experience a plus.
· 5+ years of similar business experience ideally in a retail or e-commerce environment
· Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and internal control experience related to inventory.
· Experience working in B2B and/or B2C sales environments.
· Experience with NetSuite a plus.
· Strong experience working with, and understanding, ERP and WMS systems and the ability to partner with various process owners and subject matter experts to create systematic solutions and process across multiple systems.
· General understanding of the operational flow of accounting transactions in a consumer goods and/or resale environment.
· General understanding of sales tax, use tax and other global consumption taxes.
· Strong interest in being involved in the overall operations of a large company.
· Strong analytical and independent problem-solving skills with the ability to dive in to the details.
· Excellent project managerial and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate individuals as well as roll up sleeves to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects required.
· Desire to succeed in a highly competitive but collaborative ever-changing environment; able to work as a positive, contributing member of a team.
