OVERVIEW
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) provides technical development and commercialization of domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies for use in batteries that power electric cars, grid storage applications, and consumer electronics and tools. Our first of kind systems produce commercial-scale battery materials that will be sold into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy.  Our headquarters is in downtown Reno, Nevada with site locations in Sparks, Fernley, and Tonopah, Nevada.  
 
ABOUT THE JOB
As our IT/OT & Database Engineer, you will serve as an expert on IT/OT networking and best practices for database management for the chemical process systems of our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling facility and primary resource extraction technologies. This candidate will collaborate with our plant operations team, and various internal and external experts to ensure the successful design, construction, and operations of our facilities. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the data systems required for design, installation, commissioning, and operations of industrial facilities. They should be passionate about designing, implementing, and maintaining IT and OT networks and implementing scalable SQL databases.  This position will report to our Electrical Engineering and Automation Engineering Lead Engineer.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
·        Design best-in-class IT and OT network architecture solutions for American Battery's lithium refinery and commercial battery recycling facilities
·        Perform periodic audits of existing networks to determine any deficiencies and recommend best practices to increase hardness and reliability
·        Configure, install, and manage various network devices and services to include network switches, firewalls, VPNs, virtual machines, and virtual networks
·        Set up and maintenance of virtual machines
·        Perform periodic user account auditing, provisioning, and maintenance for OT network devices
·        Provide expert guidance on Cybersecurity practices
·        Design, develop, and implement database solutions to support business requirements.
·        Perform database tuning and optimization to ensure optimal performance
·        Design and development data pipelines to integrate process systems for Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Enterprize Resource Planning systems (e.g., SAP), and process data repositories.
·        Assist in implementing project and process KPIs that track various metrics.
·        Assist automation team members with developing best practices for process data consolidation.
·        Provide periodic troubleshooting support for evening and/or weekend operating shifts through escalation pathways
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Required Qualifications
·        Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering/Science, or equivalent industry experience
·        4+ years of experience focusing on industrial networking systems and/or database management
·        Extensive experience with manufacturing and OT related systems
·        Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols including: OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, BacNET, Profinet, Fieldbus, ControlNet etc.
·        Strong Industrial Networking skills including Firewall rule development & troubleshooting, Windows based PC applications, industrial networks, TCP/IP/IoT connectivity, Edge Devices, Cloud Connectivity, Data Analytics, and how to effectively apply these technologies to complex manufacturing environments
·        Working knowledge on setting up and maintaining virtual machines
·        Chemical processing background (Oil, Gas & Chemicals, Metals & Mining, Mineral Processing, etc.) a plus
·        Ability to positively collaborate in a team environment
