Our Pilot Plant in Fernley, Nevada will be the first integrated implementation of our multi-step processing train for the full mechanical processing, physical separations, chemical extractions, and production of commercial-scale battery metals that will be resold back into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy.

 

As Chemistry Laboratory Intern the incumbent assists with laboratory operations to support process design & implementation of our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes and primary resource extraction technologies. This candidate will work closely with our analytical chemistry and process engineering design teams. This position will report to the Director of Research and Development. 

Perform routine operations for analytical instrumentation according to standardized operating procedures (SOP), including but not limited to

·         Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES)

·         Ion chromatography (IC)

·         Total organic carbon (TOC)

·         Titrators, pH sensors, and various other benchtop analytical instrumentation

 

Help implement analytical chemistry lab operations, including but not limited to

·         Receive and process samples for chemical analysis

·         Archive and/or dispose of samples as needed

·         Collect samples and observations during process design experiments

    Leaching, precipitation, liquid-liquid extractions

    Mineral processing experiments and particle characterization

·         Clean labware following experiments and routine analysis

 

Ensure a safe laboratory work environment by adhering to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) including:

·         Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate

·         Uphold laboratory hygiene policies and procedures through records keeping and management of laboratory waste

 

A background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering/Mineral Processing with basic chemistry laboratory courses and/or analytical chemistry course required (e.g., general chemistry). Physical and/or organic chemistry laboratory experience, or unit operations laboratory experience in addition is preferred.
