OVERVIEW
American Battery Technology Company (ABTC) provides technical development and commercialization of domestic, sustainable sourcing of critical battery materials through lithium-ion battery recycling and battery metal extraction technologies for use in batteries that power electric cars, grid storage applications, and consumer electronics and tools. Our first of kind systems produce commercial-scale battery materials that will be sold into the battery manufacturing supply chain to enact a low-cost, low environmental impact, and domestically sourced closed-loop circular economy.  Our headquarters is in downtown Reno, Nevada with site locations in Sparks, Fernley, and Tonopah, Nevada.   

ABOUT THE JOB 
As a Construction Manager, you will lead and own all facets of construction projects from scoping, subcontractor management, work planning and oversight of budgets, and will drive the construction phase from constructability design reviews through to handoff into operations for our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes and primary extraction technologies. You will work closely with our executive team, our engineering organization, our procurement team, our program management team, our plant operations team, and various external stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment of technologies and manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate is familiar with the design, installation, commissioning, and operations of first-of-kind facilities, and should be passionate about designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient manufacturing processes, ensuring quality control of outputs, specifying equipment, crafting and deploying monitoring protocols, and working in a high-performance and fast-paced environment. This person will be a problem-solver and have a keen interest in scaling processes proven at the bench-scale up to pilot, pre-commercial, or commercial scales. This includes a constant focus on evaluating current processes and proposing and developing solutions in order to continuously improve our team’s performance. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Technical Programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Owns the execution of construction activities and management of tradecraft across ABTC’s multiple sites and lines of business
    • Fundamentally understands and scrutinizes infrastructure designs and translates them into project scope with clear work plans and obligations.
    • Primary contact for manufacturing space readiness coordination with engineering, procurement, commissioning, and operations teams
    • Serve as a liaison between commissioning and design teams to support design development and vendor coordination
    • Develop, communicate, and improve upon site logistics and project plans; this includes understanding construction and startup systems sequences, determining laydown requirements, negotiating scope delineations between vendor and operations teams, planning for crane operations, supporting equipment delivery coordination, and confirming tool move-in strategy
    • Coordinate with the procurement team to create biddable work packages and verify contractor bids against technical capacity, cost estimates, schedule milestones
    • Support program management and project controls teams to prepare executive funding requests for project scopes and associated changes

QUALIFICATIONS

    • B.S. in Engineering preferred, OR equivalent experience and evidence of extraordinary ability.
    • 7-10 years of experience in the design, procurement & construction of mining, chemical refining and/or industrial manufacturing projects.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and make meaningful impact to technical requirements on projects.
    • Superior project management skills, including cost management and scheduling, and proven application of these project and program management fundamentals on complex engineering problems.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation abilities with the capacity to understand complex problems and distill the message into a clear plan.
    • Flourishes under pressure and in ambiguous environments.
    • Proven ability to manage internal / external teams and drive results on projects.
    • A willingness and ability to learn, think outside of the box, and develop new skills.
    • Experience on government grants a plus.
