About the Role

Are you looking to join a highly motivated team working for social impact? At Beam we’re on a mission to shift $10 Billion to high-impact nonprofits.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be a part of the team responsible for the end to end development of our APIs and backend architecture. You’ll work with our senior developers and front end teams to build out new apis, optimize performance and improve data flow and collection.

Responsibilities

·      Contribute to the software design and development of our backend APIs
·      Develop a breadth of knowledge across the beam suite of products contributing ideas and code across teams
·      Collaborate with our product managers, engineering and customer success teams
·      Design infrastructure components that optimize for the developer experience, scalability, performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability
·      Learn through code reviews, pair programming, 1-1 conversations, and broader team trainings
·      Gain knowledge of the nonprofit giving and e-commerce enablement spaces

Qualifications

·      4+ years building production APIs for complex applications
·     Proficient in design patterns, system architecture, SQL, AWS and RESTful web
·      Familiar with observability, performance optimization, continuous integration, automated testing, and cloud infrastructure
·      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience)
·      Strong communication skills and can explain & advocate for technical projects to nontechnical roles

Bonus Points for

·      Experience building APIs for web & mobile consumption
·      Familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem & webhook patterns
·      Experience with TypeScript
·      Experience working in a startup
This role will pay between $175,000-190,000 in total cash compensation.
