What we’re looking for:
Beam is looking for a  Lead Data Analyst who exemplifies a passion for data analysis and storytelling and can be a strong partner to both business and technical teams.  Data is one of our largest assets at Beam, and this role is crucial in delivering valuable insights that will empower the organization.  This person will work with stakeholders and leadership to better understand our challenges and become a subject matter expert in our data to elevate and optimize our business. This role is focused on supporting our operational teams. These are the teams that process our claims, respond to customer requests, and provide all backoffice support to both internal and external parties. We have a mature reporting catalog for key metrics (Customer Satisfaction Score, Average Speed of Answer, Time to First Touch, etc). We are looking for a lead analyst to take us to the next level - finding and optimizing efficiencies, introducing predictive analytics, and digging in with our claims processing organization to find, and realize,  savings opportunities.

What you will do:

    • Exemplify a passion for data and possess the ability to transform it into actionable insights
    • Partner with Operations leadership to understand the financial and operational performance of the business, consult on challenges, and strategize on solutions
    • Analyze large data sets and glean insights to deliver to stakeholders autonomously in a fast-paced environment
    • Exhibit high attention to detail and the ability to ask clarifying questions to ensure the accuracy of analysis
    • Build automated dashboards and reporting using tools like Looker
    • Be tenacious in follow through - not only identifying opportunities but making sure the projects to realize them are successful
    • Display a high level of business acumen and strong communication skills to deliver effectively to all levels of the organization
    • Collaborate with other analysts on best practices to uplift team knowledge and performance
    • Become an expert resource within the team and organization, fostering a data driven culture
    • Generate and interpret descriptive & predictive statistics to make decision recommendations.

What skills will help you be successful:

    • 4+ years of experience in data analytics
    • BA/BS degree in a quantitatively focused discipline; Masters or PhD is a plus
    • Experience writing advanced SQL queries
    • Advanced skills in Excel
    • Experience building data visualizations using BI tools like Looker
    • Exceptional communicator and storyteller with strong client-facing data presentation skills
    • Analytical, rigorous, and creative approach to solving difficult problems
    • Experience with data modeling concepts is a plus
    • Experience with DBT is a plus
    • Experience with Git, is a plus
    • Experience with predictive analysis and statistical methods is a plus
    • Experience using Python or R is a plus
    • Prior experience in the insurance industry is a plus
$115,200 - $184,200 a year

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors. This range does not include an estimated value for any benefits, bonus, or other incentives that may be applicable based on position.
