The Role:

Beam’s finance team is a group of analysts, strategists, and accountants that empower the company with analytics, forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for general accounting, month end close and reporting, payroll, accounts payable and other various accounting functions. The position will work with the organization at all levels to gather information, produce various reports and ensure compliance with all corporate financial reporting requirements. We bring a data-driven perspective to our leaders and make strategic recommendations throughout the business to drive performance. What You Will Do:

    • Execute all accounting operational functions
    • Maintain and report on all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
    • Prepare internal and external financial statements
    • Execute Accounts Payable function; Set-up and initiate ACH payments to vendors
    • Process semi-monthly payroll and preparation of related reports and remittances
    • Assist with monthly close procedures, including: 
    • Preparing standard and general journal entries 
    • Monitoring monthly and year-to-date activity versus budget 
    • Performing fluctuation/variance analysis
    • Assist with quarter and year-end financial closings
    • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
    • Assist with annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
    • Insure compliance with GAAP
    • Calculation of sales tax returns and submission of related payments.
    • Assist in coordination of activities of external auditors
    • Assist in managing the department budget process

What Skills Will Help You Be Successful:

    • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
    • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation, Quickbooks and Netsuite in particular
    • An advanced knowledge of Excel and familiarity with data query/management tools
    • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to tell a cohesive, concise story 
    • Confidence to consult with and influence senior leaders
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic (read: sometimes chaotic) environment
    • Self-motivated with a demonstrated desire to learn new technologies and skills
    • A demonstrated track record of completing large amounts of important work
    • A strong attention to detail and well-organized
    • Integrity and empathy

Other Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., finance, accounting, etc.)
    • CPA / CFA is preferred, but not required
    • Experience with Insurance is preferred, but not required
    • 5 or more years of relevant experience
