Beedie Capital is a multi-strategy direct investment platform that manages the alternative investments and assets for Beedie, one of the most successful industrial and residential development companies in Canada. 

Our investments range from $10M to $50M as either structured debt (i.e., subordinated debt, convertible debt) or equity, primarily in the US and Canada to both public and private companies. We can invest in any sector; however, our core focus is on Technology, Tech-enabled Services, and Metals and Mining.

The Junior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day financial operations, bookkeeping and financial reporting of Beedie Capital.  This role will expect the individual to work on-site in the Downtown office to support the Finance and Investment teams.   

Key Responsibilities

    • Accounting:
    • Assist with for full-cycle bookkeeping in the GL includes accounts payables, account receivables, banking and general journals
    • Prepare bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are posted and cleared within the same period
    • Assist with journal entries, along with compiling supporting documentation
    • Prepare related party loan interest schedules
    • Process vendor payables
    • Prepare monthly GST remittance
    • Setup wire/ACH and cash transfers
    • Bank runs
    • Assists with quarterly and annual financial procedures, including audits and budgeting
    • Other administrative and operational tasks as required 

    • Financial Reporting
    • Assist senior staff with preparation of quarterly working papers
    • Assist with preparation of pro forma reporting
    • Assist with GL variance analysis 

    • Business Operations
    • Assist Treasury with tracking unfunded commitments
    • Coordinate processing of legal documents
    • Support the Accounting team and Operations team as required for ad hoc reporting

    • Audit Support
    • Prepare and provide support for audit inquiries
    • Prepare working papers for notes disclosure in the financial statements
    •  
      Tax
    • Calculate and process monthly tax installment
    • Assist with preparation of tax returns and working papers

Desired Skills and Experience

    • Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting
    • CPA candidate is preferred, but not essential
    • Accounting and tax systems software experience preferred, but not essential
    • Strong sense of integrity, professionalism, work ethic, sense of responsibility and confidentiality

    • Computer skill (word-processing, spreadsheet, databases, etc) 
$52,000 - $57,000 a year
The annual base pay range for this position will be based on the desired experience level for this role. Additionally, Beedie recognizes exceptional individual and team performance through our pay-for-performance bonus program.
