We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team in our Chicago office. You will work closely with the Controller and Accounting Team members to create a world-class finance function within Belvedere. Primary functions include general ledger accounting & reporting, accounts payable, and expense analysis as well as many ad-hoc projects.

What you'll do

    • Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures. 
    • Resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal stakeholders in a timely manner. 
    • Prepare and perform payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers. 
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions. 
    • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations. 
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with GAAP. 
    • Support external audit activities by providing documentation and explanations as requested. 

What you'll need

    • An entrepreneurial mindset, ambition, and outstanding organizational skills.
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA or progress towards CPA certification preferred. 
    • 2+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on Accounts Payable preferred.
    • Experience with OCR technology a plus. 
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. 
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software.
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends. 
    • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work output. 
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. 
    • Experience or interest in the Financial Markets preferred. 
    • Dedication to maintaining strict confidentiality with respect to highly sensitive information.
