Bento Box Animation Studios Atlanta is on the search for exceptional 2D Character Designers for a 2D animated series. These are immediate hire positions. We are looking to hire 2D Concept Designers for either in studio or remote work. This position is a short term project with no additional benefits offered at this time.
The ideal candidate is deadline-driven and able to handle quick turnarounds on a 2D Animated project. Must be comfortable working in a collaborative environment and willing to take and follow directions. Attention to detail as well as a firm understanding of file management and organization are all highly regarded. Must be good communicators, as engaging with co-workers and directors will be an integral part of this role. We are looking for someone who is passionate, creative, motivated, and shares our love of cartoons.
Responsibilities:
- Designing Original Characters – Create 2D sketches, inked and colored illustrations, and concepts to explore and communicate the look and feel for characters. You will be expected to create style guides, expression sheets, and character turnarounds.
- Design Variations – Produce multiple concepts for a single character. You will be expected to develop a cohesive style/vision across all artwork and experiment with different silhouettes.
- Character Turnarounds – Provide front, back, and side views for 2D Rigging or animation teams.
- Expression Sheets – Illustrate a range of facial expressions and emotions to define the character’s personality.
- Visual Storytelling Through Design – Communicate a character's background, personality, and role in the story through visual elements.
Qualifications:
- Be able to work in studio OR have a remote work set up.
- Two (2) + years of professional experience.
- Has previous experience designing characters for 2D Animated Projects.
- Must be proficient in Photoshop.
- Online portfolio for submission is required. Please provide password access if necessary.
- Previous experience in a broadcast animation environment and knowledge of a studio production pipeline is highly valued.
