Bento Box is looking for experienced Storyboard Directors for a very successful animated series that combines adult comedy with strong musical foundations, layered with dark horror elements and emotional storytelling. The show mixes sharp humor with sincere human drama, creating a bold and original viewing experience. 
We are seeking Storyboard Directors with a strong sense of posing and timing, who can elevate sequences through dynamic musical or action-driven storytelling. Ideal candidates will also have the ability to broaden scene staging to achieve a more cinematic and impactful visual presentation. A strong sense of humor is a valued asset, particularly for enhancing comedic sequences.  

This role involves close creative collaboration with the showrunner and episode director to revise or block out shots sequences in a way that balances creative intent with production feasibility. 

Responsibilities:

    • Lead a team of storyboard artists to produce storyboards for the series while providing guidance and feedback throughout the storyboard creation process
    • Collaborate with the Creator/Show Runner, Producers and Director to ensure the series vision is met while maintaining quality and continuity of storyboards across the show
    • Read and review scripts and identify potential storyboard challenges
    • Create rough thumbnails for scenes with complex action or a specific vision
    • Review and revise storyboards as necessary and allocate revisions to the team
    • Implement all executive notes
    • Create rough animatic assemblies for review stages 
    • Regular check in with team members to ensure tasks are understood and deadlines are being met
    • Check in with Coordinators for updated designs and audio
    • Responsible for completing assignments on schedule
    • Work closely with other departments, such as animation and design, to ensure the smooth transition from storyboards to final production
    • Strive for excellent communication within team
    • Willing to be amenable with working hours to accommodate the different timezones that you will be overseeing

Qualifications:

    • 5+ years experience storyboarding in episodic series animation, preferably in comedy
    • Experience leading teams and facilitating productive team environments
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver, receive and respond to feedback
    • Strong proficiency in Storyboard Pro
    • Comfortable working digitally on a Cintiq
    • Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills
    • Strong written and verbal skills and confident presentation skills
    • Ability to adapt to changes easily within a highly dynamic environment
    • Strong attention to detail is critical
    • Ability to work within a team-oriented environment
