Color Supervisor - New Primetime Comedy

We are seeking a Color Supervisor for a script-driven 2D primetime animated series. The Color Supervisor will create a color palette for various designs and locations, based on development artwork and instruction from the Supervising Director. The ideal artist will be able to create depth using color and have a strong foundation in color theory. The Color Supervisor will also help with hiring and leading the color design team.

    • Collaborate with the Supervising Director to discuss creative vision, ambitions and producibility for each episode
    • Effectively communicate a clear color vision that will support and maintain the overall creative vision and quality for the story and style of the project
    • Participate in color reviews, provide clear notes for revisions, and assist with revisions as needed
    • Provide status updates, troubleshoot, and review potential changes on a regular basis with Supervising Director and production staff
    • Participate in the talent acquisition process: review portfolios and tests, interview candidates, and provide detailed feedback
    • Produce and deliver cohesive color choices for characters, props, and FX with attention to storytelling and tone
    • Paint backgrounds that have depth and texture and fit the style of the show
    • Complete all color work within assigned deadlines
    • Troubleshoot and address notes
    • Fulfill other color projects, including but not limited to color compositions, color scripts and color callouts
    • Present work to Supervising Producer and show Creators, while making quick changes on the spot


    • Strong drawing and painting skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines and keep a team on schedule
    • Working knowledge of tools and software such as Cintiq and Photoshop
    • Proven ability to define color scripts
    • Understanding and experience leading in a TV animation pipeline
    • Experience delegating, giving feedback, and providing constructive criticism to creatives
    • Strong organization and time management skills
    • A team player with a positive, can-do attitude
    • Strong knowledge of color theory and lighting
    • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
