Job Title: Release Manager
Location: Reston, VA or Bethesda, MD (candidate preference)
Clearance: Active TS/SCI (CI Poly preferred or eligible)

This role provides a unique opportunity to exercise engineering oversight, maintain hands-on experience with the latest technologies, and have regular interaction with senior customers and decision-makers as a Technical Subject Matter Expert. Berico is the prime contractor on a 5-year program, leading an interdisciplinary project team of roughly 30+ highly qualified individuals that is comprised of client/server/database/systems developers and engineers, testers, UI/UX designers, and requirements managers. We are responsible for building next generation Mission Information Systems for an exciting Government customer with a very critical mission. 


    • Manages, maintains and develops the CM environment for software product build, staging, testing and integration 
    • Responsible for developing and implementing a Configuration Management Plan (CMP)

    • Applies concepts and implement configuration management processes and procedures, such as creating product build scripts and procedures, and integrates those scripts with the software build process

    • Develops software version control processes

    • Ensures software version control processes, policies and procedures are followed on software development projects

    • Updates, documents, and maintains the currency of release management processes and procedures in the CMP 
    • Performs as the Mission Application Integration Team liaison`` to the CM, IA, IV&V, and O&M Teams, collaborating on process integration and guiding the DevOps release cycle
    • Provides administrative and technical support to Government-led change management forums (i.e., Configuration Control Board (CCB), TEM)

    • Creates product build scripts and procedures, and integrates those scripts with the software build process
    • Ensures efficient delivery of engineering capabilities using best practices, industry standards and repeatable processes
    • Provides technical consulting in the automation of configuration management and build/release management processes
    • Mitigates risks, controls costs and schedule variance, and effectively manages large scale, integrated releases
    • Leverages native, open source, and commercial tools 
    • Ensures quality control of all developed and modified solutions  
    • Ensures that documentation is complete and up-to-date
    • Collaborates with Scrum Master, Project Manager/Scheduler, and Program Manager to establish and maintain schedules and identify/remove roadblocks


    • Active TS/SCI (CI Poly preferred or eligible)
    • HS and 10+ yrs relevant experience; OR Associate's and 8+ yrs relevant exp; OR Bachelor's and 6+ yrs relevant experience; OR Master's and 4+ yrs of relevant exp; OR PhD and 2+ yrs of relevant exp
    • DoD 8750.01 IAT Level II Certified (Information Assurance and Computing Environment)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of DoD/DIA configuration/data management (CM/DM) processes and methodologies, development techniques, change control processes, configuration audits, policies, procedures, standards, and industry publications related to configuration/data/release management 
    • Hands-on experience maintaining, monitoring and reporting CM baselines
    • Knowledge and use of open source tools 
    • Lead coordination of CM issues with developers and other entities 
    • Experience performing periodic process audits of specific processes, and performing functional, Physical, and Delivery Configuration Audits 
    • Experience with task estimation
    • Experience with SCRUM/Agile -e.g. Use Cases, User Stories, Work Tasks, Atlassian JIRA, Confluence
    • Projects a professional image and strong business acumen during customer interactions 
    • Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills 
    • Ability to handle multiple assignments and manage multiple build configurations 
    • Ability to communicate effectively with project staff and customers to solve complex issues 
    • Excellent written and verbal skills with coupled with strong listening skills
    • Excellent problem solving, analytical and documentation skills 
    • A proven problem solver within a teamwork environment 

Other Bonus skills/experience:

    • Familiarity with Object Oriented Programming using .NET (SQL Server) or Java (Oracle) 
    • Experience with software build management -e.g. Maven, Jenkins/Hudson, Git/Github
    • Experience with Shell scripting/programming -e.g. Bash, PowerShell, Python, Perl, etc.
    • Experience with configuration management tools -e.g. Puppet, Salt, and/or Chef
    • Experience in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environment
