A team member in the welder/fabricator role is responsible for various types of metal fabrication preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture products to drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction. They are also motivated and enthusiastic about safety, quality, and creativity of the team. They would support the process of fabricating/modifying test fixtures, tooling, structures, vehicles, and planes to support the future of electric aviation in an R&D and Production capacity. Beta is a fast paced company, all jobs have a sense of urgency.
How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
- Proficient in assigned fabrication techniques
- Knowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys, aluminum, and some exotic materials
- Working knowledge of fixtures and fabrication set-up parameters
- Conventional and precision measuring instruments
- Process inspection, certification, and documentation
- Equipment maintenance
- Safety and Housekeeping
- Other duties as assigned by the area lead
- High energy, self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant fabrication experience (welding, shearing, sawing, grinding, and cutting)
- Self-starter that is well organized, disciplined, team player and well versed in structural analysis
- Good team communication skills required
- Working knowledge of basic hand tools
- Knowledge of cutting operations
- GMAW of steel (short circuit & pulse transfer)
- FCAW of steel
- GTAW of steel, aluminum, & stainless steel
- Google G -Suite including drive, mail, calendar, docs, sheets, slides, charts, hangouts; slack, application lifecycle
Above and Beyond Qualifications:
- 10 years of relevant fabrication experience (welding, shearing, sawing, grinding, and cutting)
- GTAW of titanium in an inert chamber
- SMAW (steel, aluminum, & stainless steel)
- Electric/Hydraulic Ironworker knowledge, training, & usage
- Advanced knowledge in CNC Machinery (Vertical Bandsaw, Plasma Table, Press Break, &/or Waterjet Cutting)
- Crane/Rigging knowledge,training, & usage
- Forklift knowledge,training, & usage
- Technician level knowledge & usage of ERP systems
- AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Certifications up to 1” Steel
- AWS D17.1 Aerospace Welding Certification for 6G Stainless Steel

The noise level in the work environment across Beta is usually moderate. However, in this instance this job it is required to wear proper ear protection due to the time and decibel level the team is exposed to.
$26 - $30 an hour
The wage listed here reflects our best faith estimate for this role.
