BETA is seeking motivated Manufacturing Technicians to join our growing team. This position will focus on contributing to the scaling of build operations for BETA’s cutting-edge electric aircraft components, from conceptualization in process development to hands-on assembly. Depending on your previous experience, in either mechanical or electrical experience, you may be tasked with installing systems such as aircraft exterior and interior systems, wiring harnesses, and participating in assembly tasks involving the structure, subsystems, composite drilling, and composite layup.

As a Manufacturing Technician, your role will encompass hands-on production assembly, accompanied by a commitment to refining manufacturing process layouts. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in implementing jigs and fixtures, introducing new tools and equipment to the production floor, and consistently enhancing quality and throughput to align with overarching business objectives. Collaboration with peers is integral, as you work closely to seamlessly integrate design changes from ongoing product development into existing build processes.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

    • Perform hands-on assembly of electric powertrain components such as Motors, Battery Packs, Inverters, and Flight Controllers with precision and expertise.
    • Conduct hands-on installation and, when necessary, testing of various aircraft systems to ensure functionality and reliability.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of manufacturing processes as the primary process owner, driving efficiency and quality throughout production.
    • Utilize aviation assembly tooling and semi-automated equipment proficiently to streamline operations and enhance productivity.
    • Exhibit attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy while following detailed work instructions and adhering to quality control procedures.
    • Employ fine motor skills to delicately operate power and hand tools on composite parts and molds, ensuring their integrity and quality and to meet industry standards effectively. 
    • Maintain accurate and clear manufacturing documentation, adhering to both internal protocols and external regulatory requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with safety requirements by consistently using all mandated safety equipment and adhering to company and government regulations and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications We are seeking:

    • High school diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or equivalent qualification.
    • Proficiency in safely operating hand and power tools.
    • Ability to follow work instructions closely, demonstrating a commitment to accuracy and quality.
    • Previous manufacturing experience preferred, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or startup environments.
    • Strong teamwork skills, capable of performing effectively under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
    • Proactively seek ways to improve processes and maintain high quality standards with an innovative and mechanically inclined approach.
    • Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
    • Ability to maintain a tidy and organized work area.
    • Strong communication skills to facilitate effective teamwork and appreciate diverse perspectives.
    • Proficiency in Google G-Suite applications including Drive, Mail, Calendar, Docs, and Sheets.

Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you:

    • A two-year degree from an accredited technical school is preferred
    • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics of battery/electronic components
    • Experience in high voltage assembly, particularly with DC energy storage systems.
    • Previous aircraft maintenance experience, with an Airframe & Powerplant license, is considered beneficial.
    • Proficiency in Google G-Suite tools (Drive, Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Charts, Hangouts), Slack, and application lifecycle management.
    • 5+ years experience working in a manufacturing setting

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment using OSHA-required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  
    • This job involves physical demands such as indoor/outdoor activities, walking, standing, climbing, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating equipment safely. It may include exposure to variable noise levels, fumes, and hazardous chemicals, requiring personal protective equipment.
