About the Role:
The Betr team is looking for a Trading Lead who will be responsible for building our trading product, providing risk management, and trading services. You will work with team members across product, design, engineering, and media to create well-researched and innovative product strategies to lead the way we price markets and manage risk across our fantasy sports and gaming products. The ideal candidate is data and customer-obsessed, understanding how to use qualitative and quantitative research to ensure our trading platform is built to support our performance needs. This role will report directly to our Head of Trading and is responsible for providing daily and weekly updates to the team on progress, successes, and challenges.
What You'll Do:
- Assess product opportunities, driving ideation and prioritization for new initiatives and products, establishing a roadmap and strategy
- Use data and analytics to identify problems and opportunities & make data-influenced decisions
- Track and report objectively on product performance, recommending iterations or pivots as appropriate
- Be a subject matter expert on the trading, offering powerful insights on the market, industry trends, and competitors
- Collaborate with media, engineering, and commercial teams to solve problems, ensure iterative product launches and experimentation
- Build and maintain the analytical foundation within the trading product & exercise the ability to make both backwards and forward-looking decisions on existing product health and the future
About You:
- 5+ years of sports trading experience with 2+ years of experience hiring and managing sports trading teams
- Ability to handle multiple simultaneous projects while effectively balancing scope, resourcing, time, and quality
- A strong sense of ownership and accountability for goals and deliverables
- Demonstrated success in cross-functionally influencing teams without formal authority
- Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage data and ensure data quality
- Thrives in a fast-paced startup environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; outstanding presentation skills with the ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, and subject matter experts
- A lifelong sports fan with a deep understanding of the sports trading ecosystem; deep knowledge of real-money gaming & sports business landscapes
Bonus Points for:
- Have managed risk for sports products doing over $1M/week in handle
- Have managed a team larger than 8 members with an assistant manager
- Experience specifically in the sports betting or daily fantasy sports space
