Position Summary
Applies principles of accounting, knowledge of accounting software and systems to prepare, maintain and report financial information.  Responsible for the preparation of all monthly balance sheet reconciliations.  The Assistant Controller will generate various reports.  The Assistant Controller must be detail oriented and must be able to appropriately prioritize his/her work and manage his/her time to meet all required deadlines.  Other duties as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Assistant Vice President, Assistant Controller:

    • Oversee the Corporate hotel accounting team.
    • Prepare and develop Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.
    • Oversee the production of all financial reports.
    • Analyze hotel performance based on monthly financial reports.
    • Review month end balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Reconcile corporate balance sheet accounts monthly.
    • Review bank statements and reconciliations monthly.
    • Timely record deposit corrections based on various bank reconciliations.
    • Analyze stale-dated checks monthly to determine whether such checks should be voided or escheated.
    • Verify payroll net deposits for transfer, prepare log for unclaimed payroll checks quarterly.
    • Contribute to the hotels annual budget preparation.
    • Assist the internal and external audits.
    • Respond in a timely and professional manner to all inquiries from internal and external auditors.
    • Participate in special assignments as requested
    • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all company policies and accounting procedures.
    • Maintain accurate files on all accounting data.
    • Complete month-end closing procedures as specified.

    • Working Conditions / Physical Requirements / Travel
    • This position is based in an office environment with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • This role does not require any travel.

Experience / Education

    • 7+ years of accounting experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business
    • Knowledge of USALI
    • Proficient with Yardi, BirchStreet, Microsoft Systems
    • Experienced in Microsoft Excel and hotel property management systems

$135,000 - $165,000 a year
The actual base pay offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held.  Base pay is one component of B. F. Saul Company & Affiliates total compensation package, which also includes access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, bonus plans and more.
