Biobot Analytics leverages wastewater analysis to inform public health decision making through wastewater based epidemiology. Our lab in Cambridge, MA analyzes wastewater from across the US for SARS-CoV-2, opiates, and other biomarkers and pathogens. Biobot is looking for a Molecular Biology Research Associate to join our diagnostic laboratory team to perform analysis of customer samples. To be successful in this role, the desired candidate has to be flexible, willing to work in a demanding laboratory environment and show initiative.   Teamwork is also essential.

What you will be doing

    • Under supervision, follows standard operating procedures to extract genomic RNA from sewage samples in a BSL2 environment
    • Completes projects as assigned 
    • Documents production work, data and notes using electronic software
    • Reports anomalies, outliers when identified
    • Has basic laboratory skills and knowledge of instrumentation
    • Participates in lab cleanliness, care of equipment, and general lab maintenance.
    • Prepares reagents and related administrative tasks in an organized and transparent fashion.

Requirements (what you need to succeed)

    • Undergraduate degree in a relevant scientific field.
    • Enthusiasm, independence and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, team environment
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
    • Must be able to use sound judgment to handle a variety of tasks and to shift priorities simultaneously, as well as identify potential problems

    • Required standing or sitting for several hours straight at a time.
