 The Digital Accessibility Manager will be responsible for managing thought leadership, best practices and accessibility initiatives for a project. They will ensure that all digital products meet federal accessibility guidelines and standards. 

Responsibilities

    • Lead and manage the accessibility team to ensure alignment with project goals, client expectations, and compliance with accessibility standards.
    • Oversee the development, implementation, and ongoing management of accessibility strategies, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into the broader design, development, and content creation processes.
    • Serve as a key accessibility subject matter expert, guiding the acquisition and procurement of ICT solutions that meet Section 508 and WCAG standards, while addressing business needs.
    • Ensure all digital content, including websites, applications, and documents, adhere to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards through comprehensive audits and continuous improvement.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, designers, and content creators, to promote accessibility awareness and embed accessibility best practices throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Foster relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to advocate for and support accessibility initiatives, driving a culture of inclusivity across projects.
    • Develop and maintain accessibility policies, procedures, and resources to guide teams and ensure consistent adherence to federal accessibility guidelines and industry standards.
    • Support organizational efforts to meet risk management, compliance, and audit needs related to accessibility, ensuring alignment with relevant regulatory frameworks.
    • Lead educational initiatives to raise awareness and provide training on accessibility, helping teams understand the needs of users with disabilities and how to design inclusive digital experiences.
    • ·         Drive innovation in accessibility practices by staying informed of emerging trends, tools, and best practices, and integrating them into the organization’s approach.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a related field
    • At least five years of relevant experience in digital accessibility, including 508 compliance, PDF remediation, and web accessibility 
    • Project management experience 
    • Experience leading and mentoring teams
    • Familiarity with accessibility testing tools, such as JAWS, NVDA, ANDI, and Axe 
    • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines and Section 508 compliance requirements 
    • Excellent communication and project management skills 
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
    • Experience piloting tools andsuggesting techniques for improvement. 
    • Experience creating accessible digital solutions for individuals withdisabilities; ideally in the government sector. 
    • Strong knowledge of accessibility legislation including ADA, Section 504 and Section 508, as well as demonstrated understanding of WCAG 2.1 guidelines and ARIA techniques. 
    • Experience with assistive technologies for various disabilities. 
    • The ability to successfully obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
