This position will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal and open to Nepali citizens only.
What will you do?
The Evaluation and Research Manager will work with technical teams to provide guidance, technical leadership, and technical oversight for teams supporting monitoring and evaluation (M&E) assignments for USAID and implementing partners, with a focus on managing the process, teams, and quality of the evaluations and research the activity conducts. The Evaluation and Research Manager will report to MEL Director.
Responsibilities:
· Help review scopes of work from USAID and provide feedback and suggestions to ensure that the scopes of work are practical and of sound technical quality.
· Oversee the recruitment process and day-to-day management for external consultants serving on evaluation and research teams
· Contribute to the solicitation for, contracting of, and management of data collection firms.
· Support design of evaluations and research including identifying appropriate methods, supporting instrument development, and supporting inception or design reports.
· Contribute to data collection, data analysis, and reporting.
· Assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving when the need arises, including delivering services to the client when required.
· Perform other technical duties as required, acting as an overall member of the USAID Learning for Development team and contributing to the success of all of our work across different service areas.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
· 7+years of relevant experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning or a related area in international development.
· Strong blended skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines.
· Proficiency in English and fluency in Nepali are required.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· A solution-oriented mindset that can work well with diverse teams.
· Technical expertise in one or more of USAID’s sectors (health, economic growth, democracy, rights and governance, education, or environment and resilience) a plus.
· Demonstrated skills in using Microsoft Office software and web-based communication tools.
