Fellowship - Summer 2019
About the Fellowship
As a BlueLabs fellow, you have the unique opportunity to learn and work with some of the most skilled and dedicated people in DC. Our employees have helped campaigns win difficult elections, driven healthcare enrollment, helped advocacy organizations and nonprofits connect with their supporters and worked directly with corporate clients to determine new and novel areas of growth. These are the same employees who embrace our culture of growth, mentorship and education when they work one-on-one with our fellows.
We offer a variety of opportunities to our fellows - engineering fellows have contributed to key software libraries and major infrastructure improvements, data science fellows have built and scored models for clients across all industries and our campaigns fellows have worked directly with state and federal campaigns, providing support and data analysis.
Given the array of fellowship opportunities we don't define any "must have" skills, traits or backgrounds - aside from an eagerness to learn and a drive to improve lives but successful fellows have typically come to us with one or more of the skills we use daily at BlueLabs.
Fellows might have one or more of the following:
- Experience analyzing and visualizing data with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
- Experience working with SQL
- Functional knowledge of a programming language (we use Python and Scala)
- Functional knowledge of a statistical language (we use Pandas and R)
- Experience in organizing campaigns or advocacy movements
We know that the best candidate may not fit neatly into the boxes we define here so if this sounds like a place you want to work, even if you're not confident you perfectly match our posting, we still encourage you to apply! We welcome diverse, out-of-the-box thinking, and we strive to provide an ecosystem for innovation and development.
BlueLabs is one of the few employers in DC who offers its Fellows the same benefits as our full-time employees such as a premier health insurance plan, 401k match, generous paid vacation and holidays, pre-tax transportation options and that's just to name a few!
