Our company has been growing at an extremely rapid pace as we scale up to meet the generational crisis presented by the pandemic. The Director of Public Policy is responsible for designing and executing BookNook’s influence agenda at local, state, and national level. This position will also work to cultivate school board relationships and will execute targeted state level advocacy campaigns. The Director of Public Policy reports to the BookNook Chief of Staff.

You are a good fit for this role if you have

    • 5+ years of experience in public policy and/or government relations
    • Some experience working on issues related to K-12 education
    • Demonstrated success in achieving policy outcomes and in developing / cultivating relationships with key policy makers and staff 
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, especially the ability to explain and discuss technical policy issues in clear and concise terms
    • Advanced negotiation skills
    • Ability to think quickly, critically and strategically
    • Excellent project management skills
    • The ability to thrive in an environment based on the principle of High Standards and High Fives
    • An interest in working in a mission-driven company with a dual bottom line

It would be extra great if you also

    • Have a deep knowledge of the K12 education landscape, and with reading and literacy specifically
    • Have experience in edtech, govtech, or a related industry
    • Have been part of a startup during rapid growth and have seen what it takes to navigate inflection points of rapid growth
