About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and resourceful User Experience Research Lead to join our Product Team. The User Experience Research Lead will perform research and share insights to shape and inform BookNook’s products while establishing and expanding UX Research best practices and processes.

You will be working alongside Design and Curriculum teams to ensure that our platform best meets the needs of our users. Evangelizing the importance of a user-centric mentality when building products across the whole of the organization is a core part of this role. 

At BookNook, you will:

    • Work alongside stakeholders to define a UX research strategy that supports BookNook’s mission.
    • Lend your expertise and insights throughout a project’s lifecycle.
    • Collaborate with design and curriculum leads in order to identify areas where user experience research can best provide insight and impact to develop research roadmaps.
    • Design and lead qualitative and quantitative research studies for strategic insights as well as fast turnaround tactical projects.
    • Share insights with designers, PMs, leadership, and business stakeholders effectively in the necessary timelines and formats.
    • Advocate for user needs and evangelize the value of user-centric design and UX research in the product development process.
    • Establish and maintain foundational user research on which to base future product decisions.

What we're looking for:

    • 5+ years of experience in applied user experience research.
    • Master’s Degree in a relevant field (Psychology, Cognitive Science, Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction/HCI, Human Machine Interaction/HMI, Anthropology, Sociology, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
    • Experience leading and managing user research.
    • Ability to work within time and budget constraints.
    • Understanding of strengths and weaknesses of different research methods, and when and how to apply them in the product development process.
    • Mastery of a wide variety of user research techniques and tools.
    • Ability to champion user experience research and integrate within the design planning, estimation, and prioritization process.
    • Ability to train and mentor junior team members.
