About The Role:
Bowery Farming is seeking an ambitious team member who is passionate about providing our customers with top quality and safe food, who can learn quickly, and thrive in a fast-paced & flexible environment. Be a part of an innovative team that is committed on ensuring our produce is safe and of the highest quality. This is a hands-on role that will audit, test and report in our current food safety and quality processes, make recommendations based on findings and help drive a culture that is focused on food safety across the organization.

What You'll Do:

    • Perform daily GMP inspections to ensure farm hygiene practices are maintained in accordance with regulatory, SQF and Bowery Farming standards
    • Conduct operational and post operational processing environment inspections and audits to maintain facility compliance 
    • Interpret, trend and implement corrective actions where necessary based on Food Safety & Quality standards
    • Collect water, air, environmental samples for laboratory analysis on a routine basis 
    • Evaluate certificates of analysis pertaining to chemical and microbiological based testing of product and the environment 
    • Monitor and ensure appropriate concentration of all the chemicals used in the processing environment
    • Perform routine verifications and instrument calibrations to ensure appropriate equipment functionality 
    • Conduct hygiene testing on select equipment prior to operation and analyze testing data
    • Perform finished product audits in accordance with the Bowery Farming FG Audit and implement corrective actions where necessary 
    • Responsible for maintaining facility sanitation standards and managing the farm cleaning process
    • Participate in training initiatives to educate our staff on food safety best practices
    • Design and execute experiments pertaining to food quality and safety
    • Review, analyze and interpret complaint data trends
    • Collaborate with the Agricultural Science department to productionize new high quality leafy greens
    • Provide interdepartmental support as needed

Who You Are:

    • You have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills
    • You are willing to follow strict food safety and sanitary standards
    • You are familiar with PC or Mac, and you are able to use a tablet or smartphone
    • You are authorized to work in the US
    • You are comfortable working in a cold room for short and extended periods of time (Protective equipment provided)
    • You are comfortable with physical requirements including: Lift and move objects up to 49 pounds each & Standing for hours at a time
    • You are capable of bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
