We are hiring a full time Safety Manager to join our Claims department.

The Safety Manager is responsible for providing site safety leadership across multiple CES warehouse facilities (non-manufacturing), and with our company drivers, ensuring compliance with corporate safety standards, implementing safety directives, improving safety performance, and ensuring facility safety policies and procedures align with government regulations. This position will also be responsible for creating and overseeing safety programs and training to reduce the number of work-related injury occurrences.
 
Essential Job Functions:

Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and hazardous materials (HAZMAT).

Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.

Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

Conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws, regulations and compliance, HAZMAT, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.

Train and engage employees in maintaining the behaviors needed to reach the organization’s safety goals.
Effectively provide technical advice, coaching and guidance on safety-related information and initiatives. Respond to questions from management, employees at all levels, and outside vendors.

Actively investigate industrial accidents, near-miss incidents, and occupational injuries to determine causes, install preventative measures, and mange return-to-work activities.

Work with Safety and HR teams to ensure timely administration and processing of all WC claims and actively monitor their status. This will include full oversight or interactive process with employees who have claims, carrier action-needed compliance and clinic action needed compliance to reduce employee lost time.

Oversee Facility Alarm issues within Facilities Maintenance Manager to back up.

Collaborates with management to develop, oversee and facilitate emergency action plans and drills for all locations (including fire, earthquake, active shooter, etc.)

Monitor company-wide CCTV video surveillance system and oversee video accident investigations, employee relations incident investigations requested by HR, property/merchandise damage claims, COVID-19 track-tracing as needed, etc.

Oversee Weights and Measures – Director of Claims and Loss Prevention to backup.
Oversee Elevator Permits – Director of Claims and Loss Prevention to backup.
Oversee HAZMAT compliance and trainings.

Implement and oversee the Safety Committee and help plan and facilitate the quarterly meetings.
Maintain facility safety inventory including supplies and equipment. Take lead and work closely with HR on any future CDC Pandemic-related regulations and matters.

Manage Roving Security and backup.
Manage Safety Department staff of two.
 
Experience and skills required:
High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree desired.
Minimum 8-10 years of progressive facility safety management experience.
Thorough knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations.
Ability to communicate with employees at all levels.
Ability to work well and under control in a crisis situation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be bi-lingual. (Spanish)
$82,000 - $90,000 a year
Salary is what is considered reasonable estimated range for this position. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
BPM is hiring on behalf of our client located in Rancho Dominquez, CA. This role is onsite and will not be able to accommodate remote worker.
