About the Program
The SWHB Perinatal Workforce Pathway is a brand-new domain of the South Ward Healthy Beginnings Program, shaped in response that there will be significant deficits in the national perinatal workforce over the next three decades, and New Jersey's perinatal workforce is no exception. The SWHB Perinatal Workforce Pathway program is designed to increase the number of maternity care providers and other perinatal health workers who offer culturally congruent support to women throughout their pregnancies, labor/delivery, and the postpartum period.

Specifically, SWHB Perinatal Workforce Pathway will increase the number of:
(1) Doulas: Labor assistants who provides physical and emotional support to gestational parents during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum period.
(2) Certified Lactation Counselors (CLC): CLC's support the lactating parent through any issues or challenges they are experiencing.
(3) Community Health Workers: Front line public health worker is a trusted member of and/or has a close understanding of the community served.

About the Position
Reporting to the MD of Program and Evaluation, the inaugural Asst. Director will assist in the design, manage, and implement the SWHB Perinatal Workforce Pathway domain. The Asst. Director will be responsible overseeing the training and college partnerships; promoting the program to community residents; and support with developing program protocols, guidelines, systems, and efficiencies to ensure program success for all participants.

The Asst. Director of Perinatal Workforce Pathway domain presents an exciting new role for leader who brings vision, an entrepreneurial spirit eager to help build, and a passion for increasing the number of maternity care providers. The successful candidate will: 1) have experience designing a partner engagement strategy, 2) be data-driven, solutions-oriented, and self-directed, and 3) demonstrate leadership and initiative, while also being a committed and contributing team player.
Responsibilities
 
Program Development and Community Engagement (45%)
                Support develop and manage the training courses and partnerships
                Identify, cultivate, and manage all partnerships
                Design appropriate and related trainings and workshops
                Produce and manage a variety of communication vehicles to support and promote partnership building work
                Speak to community groups and other external audiences about the work of Perinatal Workforce Pathway
                Promote and market the Perinatal Workforce Pathway to residents in the SWPN
 
Program Management (25%)
                Analyze program data, develop quality assurance and program improvement plans, and develop program outcome reports
                Develop and manage program budget
                Work closely with multiple stakeholders to achieve program goals and drive participant outcomes
 
Career Coaching (25%)
                Assist participants through application/enrollment to appropriate employer, college and/or training partner organizations
                Collaborate with other SWPN staff to coordinate transportation, childcare, financial assistance and other support to facilitate participant success in their first year of employment and/or enrollment in college or training partner programs
 
Other (5%)
                Participate in various internal meetings and learning opportunities
                Perform other duties as assigned related to BEN’s and SWPN’s missions or to support partners, funders, or other stakeholders
 
Qualifications
 
Experience
·       6-8+ years partnership-building experience; a focus on building training programs
·       Proven track record of project management
·       Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
·       Public Health Background experience a plus
 
Skills
·       Proven entrepreneurial abilities, creativity, initiative, and energy to build new programs
·       Proven outcomes-focused problem solver and strategic thinker
·       Demonstrated relationships building
·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to organize and express ideas in a clear, succinct, accurate, and compelling manner

Salary, Goals, and Employment Period
Salary Range:  Based Upon Experience / Performance Contract              
Employment Period: Twelve Months
