Overview
 
The Special Education Interventionist is a an experienced teacher with 5+ years experience advancing student learning and closing the achievement gap.  The SPED interventionist is responsible for demonstrating significant and measurable academic gains for all students assigned to their case load.  The case load will include Special Education scholars with Individualized Education Plans and non-classified scholars that need academic and behavioral support to reach their goals.   The SPED interventionist will work collaboratively with teachers, school leadership, and CST members to develop student individualized goals and intervention plans.

Employee performance will be evaluated through periodic teacher observations and measurement of student achievement gains. 
 

Essential Functions

    • Implement the interventions and accommodations outlined in IEPs for classified students and monitor progress toward individual goals
    • Daily pull out of general education scholars that need intense remediation or foundational skill development to assist them in succeeding in the literacy or mathematics classroom
    • Daily push in to classrooms to support scholars that need additional support
    • Teach remedial groups as needed
    • Frequent data input and analysis to measure student’s progress towards their individual goals
    • Ongoing communication with paraprofessionals and classroom teachers to ensure scholars on case load receive the appropriate interventions and differentiated supports
    • Participate in IEP or BRtS meetings, when appropriate

Qualifications

    • Must be knowledgeable about current research and practices associated with: effective instructional strategies for increasing reading/language arts and mathematics competency in students who are below grade level    
    • Must have at least five years of classroom teaching experience; experience working with students with disabilities preferred
    • Ability to work from 7:30-4:30 daily, with one day a week extending to 5pm
    • New Jersey Department of Education certification for Teacher of Students with Disabilities required.  Dual certified applicants will receive priority.
    • Candidates must be able to start August 13, 2018

Salary and Employment Period

    • Salary Range: Competitive compensation package
