Masaka Creamery’s mission is to delight our customers by producing beloved products, with
uncompromising devotion to our values. We manufacture high quality dairy products under the
Masaka Farms label from our headquarters located in the Kigali Special Economic Zone. Masaka
Creamery actively recruits from the Deaf community in Rwanda, and currently boasts a production
team that is 100% Deaf. We are a values-driven organization working diligently toward our vision of
being admired in Rwanda and beyond for exemplary culture, quality and inclusion as we scale to
10,000 liters per day.
Position Overview
Masaka Creamery seeks a seasoned professional with a robust track record in operational
leadership. As the Operations Manager, you will be pivotal in steering growth, optimizing
manufacturing processes, and ensuring operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the CEO, your
collaboration with senior management will be instrumental in shaping and executing strategic
initiatives during this critical phase of expansion.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Leverage your operational expertise to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our manufacturing processes.
- Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless coordination between production, supply chain, and logistics teams.
- Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with department heads to develop and implement strategies that optimize growth, bolster market presence, and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- Team Mentorship: Guide and mentor teams to enhance performance, foster a collaborative work environment, and drive a culture of innovation.
- Supply Chain Optimization: Collaborate closely with operations and logistics teams to optimize the supply chain, production, and distribution processes.
- Process Efficiency: Implement measures to enhance operational efficiencies, decrease downtime, and recommend new process flows and equipment changes.
- Quality and Safety: Develop and enforce protocols to maintain certifications, ensuring our commitment to quality, and championing continuous improvement in safety standards.
- Maintenance Programs: Establish and manage maintenance and preventative maintenance programs to ensure the optimal performance of machinery and equipment.
- Financial Acumen: Collaborate with the financial team to develop budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics aligned with operational goals.

Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in operational management.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining a strong company culture.
- Proven track record of optimizing manufacturing processes and driving operational
- excellence.
- Strong understanding of financial, operational, and market dynamics.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (required); Master's degree (preferred).
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and implementing performance improvements.
- Willingness to quickly learn sign language and actively communicate in sign language with the production team.
Compensation & Working Conditions:
- Compensation: Competitive compensation based on experience
- Paid Leave: 18 working days per annum
- Travel: Candidate will work primarily from the company’s offices in Kigali, Rwanda
- Duration: Seeking a minimum initial commit of 24 months
- Reporting: Candidate will report to the CEO and to the Executive Chairman as well as work collaboratively with other department heads and team members
- Expenses: Candidate shall be reimbursed for business related airtime, transportation and other authorized business expenses
