Bright Cellars is the monthly wine subscription startup designed to help new wine drinkers discover and define their taste in wine! We curate wines from around the world with the goal of making wine fun, accessible and educational.

How Bright Cellars Works: Our members join Bright Cellars by taking a 7 question-quiz to share their taste preferences. The Bright Points learning algorithm evaluates these preferences to determine the best wine matches for each member’s taste. Each month, members receive four or six unique bottles in the mail, which they are then able to rate and provide personalized feedback on their profile. Similar to Netflix’s collaborative filtering algorithm, Bright Cellar's algorithm uses this feedback to improve members’ monthly wine matches going forward. 

A Little About This Role: We’re looking for a Consumer Insights Manager to join our Marketing team. To be successful in this role, you are a strategic thinker, skilled storyteller, and expert analyst who excels at collecting and translating  consumer insights into strategic recommendations. The individual in this role will lead the consumer insights learning agenda, evolve our member personas, and play an important role in synthesizing customer feedback to improve the member experience and inform new product development.  This position will collaborate closely with the data, finance & accounting, and customer-facing teams, with the goal of cultivating a deeper understanding of our member needs so the organization can focus resources efficiently and accelerate growth. This role will report to the Brand Marketing Director.

What you'll do:

    • Build Fundamental Wine Category & Consumer Understanding – 60%
    • Lead the  consumer research agenda (qualitative + quantitative) to ensure deep organizational understanding of our members and target consumers
    • Inform the organization of key wine category trends and  identify synergies with member needs to inform new product development
    • Leverage consumer research to inform consumer segmentation, provide portfolio mix recommendations, and optimize the wine subscription experience
    • Lead research design and execution, ensuring appropriate methodology, guiding action standards and producing actionable insights to answer key business needs 
    • Identify the right data sources (primary and secondary) to deepen consumer and category understanding 
    • Partner with the Data team to develop helpful internal tools (e.g. Tableau dashboards) that further consumer understanding

    • Facilitate Consumer-Driven Decision-Making – 40%
    • Collaborate with cross functional partners, including Growth Marketing, Creative, and Sales teams, providing thought leadership to inform consumer  targeting, communication, and sales strategies
    • Partner with Ops/R&D  and Data to build out a more robust innovation ideation and product concepting process 
    • Collaborate with the Wine Education team to improve the relevancy and value of educational content for our members
    • Partner with the Data and R&D teams to improve the approach and measurement of test & learn initiatives 
    • Leverage data-driven insights to help the executive leadership team prioritize strategic initiatives

Experience we're looking for:

    • Highly motivated, self starter who can work in a fast-paced environment and handle a level of ambiguity 
    • Proven track record managing quantitative and qualitative market research programs for consumer products
    • Proven ability to work cross functionally within a dynamic, fast-moving organization
    • A balance of left- and right-brain thinking that can go deep on the data and provide a nuanced human perspective drawn from empathy and active listening
    • An experienced and engaging presenter who can both inform and inspire, bringing data to life with compelling human insights and context
    • Strategic thinking and writing skills
    • Strong experience in Microsoft office, Google tools (sheets, slides, etc.)
