RETHINK MANUFACTURING

The only way to ignite change is to build the best team. At Bright Machines®, we’re innovators and experts in our craft who have joined together to create a new category of manufacturing that will help transform the industry. We believe software and data are the answer, thoughtfully applied to solve our customers’ unique challenges. Through intelligent automation, we give factories newfound flexibility, scalability, and resilience. We deliver products to meet the demands of today while building a platform to take advantage of what comes next.

Working with us means you’ll have the opportunity to make lasting, impactful changes for our company and our customers. If you’re ready to apply your exceptional skills to create the factory of the future, we’d love to speak with you.

As a Principal Software Engineer in the Robot Perception team at Bright Machines, you will be one of the key contributors to the architecture, design and development of advanced software applications for industrial robots with perception & learning capabilities to enable software-defined manufacturing.

As a member of this team, you will function as a lead for designing software systems for building powerful yet easy-to-deploy & use cloud-native applications for industrial robots used in Bright Machines Microfactories. These applications would add intelligence to the robots by integrating motion control, perception, and machine learning capabilities while being highly fault-tolerant and delivering high-performance. You will help contribute to building Bright Machine’s ecosystem, designing forward-looking API’s that will support advanced robotics functionality, and developing a rich extensible software platform for internal and third-party use.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

    • Architect, design and develop core components and software to deliver a portfolio of software-defined robot automation applications
    • Create software system designs for building enterprise-grade and mission-critical industrial automation applications
    • Contribute to full innovation lifecycle from exploration & experimentation to delivering world-class applications that delight end-users
    • Provide technical leadership to the fellow team-members on developing fault-tolerant, high-performing, cloud-based robotics/industrial automation systems

WHAT WE WANT TO SEE

    • BS or MS in Computer Science/Engineering/STEM or equivalent industry experience
    • 15+ year of relevant experience
    • Programming experience in C/C++ and any of the languages C#, GO, Java, Javascript or Python
    • Architecting scalable, secure, high-performance cloud-native applications using a modern stack
    • Experience in complete SDLC of successful mission-critical industrial systems and distributed systems (e.g. industrial SaaS apps, IoT)

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAD

    • Knowledge of PC-based robot communication libraries, such as PCDK, RTDE, and others
    • Experience developing low-latency systems using real-time kernels
BE EMPOWERED TO CHANGE AN INDUSTRY
