ABOUT THE ROLE
Bright Machines is on a mission to transform how electronics are made—bringing intelligence, scalability, and flexibility to the factory floor. We combine the best of automation, machine learning, and software to modernize manufacturing from the ground up.
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Supply Chain Director to architect and lead all aspects of the supply chain for a new server manufacturing facility. This role encompasses strategic and operational responsibilities across procurement, planning, inventory, warehouse operations, logistics, and trade compliance. The Director will build the team, implement tools, and establish scalable processes and automation to support both New Product Introduction (NPI) and high-volume production.
This is a foundational leadership role in a newly developed flagship manufacturing site—offering a unique opportunity to build and shape the supply chain organization as part of a broader initiative to create a next-generation model factory.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Define and implement end-to-end supply chain strategy aligned with business growth and production ramp plans.
- Select, deploy, and scale critical tools (ERP, MRP, WMS, TMS, SCM) and processes (S&OP, forecasting, replenishment).
- Establish core operational metrics (OTD, PPV, inventory turns, supplier performance) and drive continuous improvement.
- Build the supply chain organization from the ground up, including staffing plans for procurement, planning, logistics, and warehouse.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and development of high-performance team members across functional areas.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and development pathways to foster retention and career growth.
- Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Drive automation in material management (e.g., automated storage/retrieval systems, barcode/RFID tracking, real-time inventory).
- Implement process automation across procurement workflows, planning cycles, and warehouse execution to reduce manual dependencies.
- Leverage data analytics and dashboards for real-time supply chain visibility and proactive decision-making.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to integrate automation into MES, ERP, and factory control systems.
- Own supplier sourcing and relationship management across all commodities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies that balance cost, quality, and supply continuity.
- Set up procurement workflows and compliance controls for direct materials, indirect spend, and CapEx.
- Build integrated planning processes: demand forecasting, supply planning, and capacity analysis.
- Define and manage inventory strategies (safety stock, reorder points, kanban) for NPI and volume production.
- Support BOM evolution, ECO management, and planning agility for engineering-driven builds.
- Design and implement warehouse layout, flow, and systems (e.g., WMS, pick-to-light, kitting) including automation
- Oversee receiving, inventory control, kitting, shipping, and reverse logistics.
- Manage domestic and international logistics including carrier selection, freight optimization, and routing compliance
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations (EAR, ITAR, HTS, customs).
- Establish SOPs and training for documentation, recordkeeping, and audit readiness.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies for geopolitical, supply continuity, and transportation disruptions.
- Partner with Engineering on DfM/DfT and component selection to align with sourcing and logistics strategies.
- Align closely with Manufacturing on build-readiness, material flow, and capacity planning.
- Interface with Finance on budgeting, cost modeling, and inventory valuation controls.
WHAT WE WANT TO SEE
- 10+ years in supply chain leadership roles within electronics, hardware, or manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience in scaling operations and standing up supply chain functions from scratch.
- Strong background in automation, digital tools, and integrated supply chain systems.
- Demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams.
- Deep knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and logistics tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; MBA or APICS/ISM certification a plus.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAD:
- Experience in server manufacturing environments (rack-level, PCBAs, complex BOMs, short-cycle NPI)
- Visionary leader with the ability to execute tactically in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong analytical thinker with a bias for action and problem-solving.
- Passion for continuous improvement, process rigor, and operational scalability
