We are looking for a Director of Storytelling to craft and communicate our narrative through compelling, human stories aligned with our values, position, and mission. You will develop our narrative to communicate our unique value proposition and foster emotional connections with the audience.
You will collaborate with senior leadership, business development, client service, and operations to define and articulate our strategic direction, which includes identifying key messages and themes that resonate with target audiences and reflect future trends, ensuring our brand remains relevant and differentiated.
You have a deep understanding of strategic communications, brand management, and digital experiences. You are a natural craftsperson who consistently drafts clear, compelling communication and continuously evolves Brighton Jones' voice to reflect our unique personality. You are a self-motivated collaborator who is socially and emotionally intelligent, as well as a natural brand-builder and persuader.
You will contribute to cutting-edge creative campaigns, podcasts, and video production and collaborate with key stakeholders to transform our capacity for storytelling into a strategic advantage.
This role is director-level on the Brighton Jones Marketing team and reports to the CMO.

Key Responsibilities - Storytelling:
- Translate Vision into Narrative: Transform leadership's vision into compelling written and visual stories that introduce and highlight Wealth Alignment, the future of the wealth management industry. Develop and integrate stories unique to Brighton Jones into a coherent narrative that differentiates the firm from the industry.
- Architect Brand Identity: Play a pivotal role in shaping our brand architecture to support strong, coherent service-line brands that are additive to Wealth Alignment.
- Strategic Brand Alignment: Coordinate content strategy with overarching brand goals to enhance client interaction at all touchpoints. Manage the integration of brand narratives across product development, marketing initiatives, and corporate communications, maintaining authenticity and consistency throughout.
- Develop Storytelling Assets: Craft a wide range of storytelling assets, including web pages, case studies, social media content, videos, whitepapers, email copy, and presentations. Ensure each piece aligns with strategic goals, is tailored for specific audiences, and uses well-defined messaging frameworks and personas.
- Collaborative Content Creation: Work closely with the marketing team, senior leadership, and heads of various service lines and programs to design and implement effective content strategies that resonate across diverse platforms and audiences.
- Innovative Project Leadership: Adopt a start-up mentality characterized by tenacity, adaptability, curiosity, and creativity. Lead projects from ideation to implementation, ensuring innovative and effective outcomes through the entire creative lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Liberal Arts
- 5+ years of relevant experience at advertising agencies and/or in-house creative departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft stories that connect with different audiences.
- Proven experience in brand strategy and content development. Demonstrated ability to translate organizational vision into engaging narratives and clear, compelling content across multiple platforms.
- Experience with brand architecture and creating integrated marketing campaigns that enhance customer engagement.
- Strong background in creating and managing digital content, including websites, social media, and multimedia assets.
- Strong analytical skills to understand data, trends, and audience insights.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and initiatives, demonstrating creativity and innovation in narrative construction and delivery.
- Excellent communication and persuasion skills, capable of engaging internal and external audiences with authentic and compelling stories.
- Portfolio of writing across online, ads, articles, whitepapers, checklists, scripts, social, and press releases.
- Positive energy, high creativity, and desire to make an impact.
- This role is an in-office, full-time, and exempt position. We are a work from office culture with a lot of flexibility.
Compensation:
- $140,000 - $150,000 per year.

What to expect in the hiring process
1. Values in Action Self-Assessment - at Brighton Jones we don’t just talk about our values, we live by them! We’ve operationalized our values into behaviors and part of the application process includes completing a brief self-assessment on our Values in Action.
2. Initial Interview - this 30-min chat with a recruiter or hiring manager gives us a chance to learn about your background and goals and share more about the role and company.
3. Role Alignment - next you’ll meet with the hiring manager and a peer (virtual or in-person) to dive deeper into the role, responsibilities, and your transferrable experiences.
4. Full Loop - you’ll meet the team in two, back-to-back interviews with team members you’re likely to work with. During these conversations, we’ll be listening for examples of your technical skills as well as how core values show up in your experience. There may also be a writing sample, role play, hiring, or technical assessment depending on the position.
5. Personal Reference Calls - in this final step in the hiring process, you will be asked to arrange 1-2 personal reference calls with past managers of our choosing.
