The Role

As a Senior Data Analyst (Marketing + Finance + Content) at Brilliant, you will drive high leverage business decisions through analysis and modeling.

The role will support multiple functions, with a focus on:
• [~50%] Paid marketing, analyzing performance across all channels
• [~30%] Content, assessing the value and performance of our library

• [~5%] User research

You will become an expert on our customers, business, and product - empowering data-informed decision making in key initiatives. Above all, you’ll help us develop the correct frameworks for understanding and accelerating the company’s growth.

This role reports to Jenny and will work extremely closely with Calvin, as well as Isidora, Eli, and Alice, among others.

You are confident about...

    • Your ability to thrive in a fast-paced, often ambiguous work environment
    • Using data to make recommendations based on your findings
    • Working fast by default to produce actionable results in O(days) versus O(weeks), and slowing down when you sense elevated risk of a bad decision
    • Managing timelines efficiently and communicating when deadlines are at risk
    • Not mistaking precision for accuracy

You are exceptional at...

    • Using advanced SQL for analysis (bonus if you can leverage Python)
    • Spreadsheet magic
    • Analyzing usage patterns and funnels; experience with digital consumer products is a plus
    • Storytelling by transforming data into effective and impactful visual insights (Tableau, Hex, Google Sheets)
    • Managing and prioritizing multiple work streams
    • Communicating (verbal, written, and presentations) and ability to establish relationships

Your responsibilities

    • Analyze large, complex event data representing millions of user interactions to address strategic and operational business questions
    • Build data products and analytical frameworks that facilitate understanding of key business metrics and users’ experience
    • Maintain and improve our marketing performance models
    • Jump back-and-forth between the big picture and complex segmentation
    • Build impact calculators and heuristics for content investment decision making
    • Create and maintain content metric dashboards
    • Ensure revenue forecasts are accurate, and continue to evolve those models
