      Location: Plano, TX/ Columbus, OH/ NJ Hybrid Preferred but open to Remote too
      Duration: Long Term
       
      Optical infrastructure networking experience. Ideal candidate must have Ciena 6500 experience and firsthand knowledge of most (8+) key words below.

    • Exposure to entirely different distributors.
    • An intensive understanding of how networks function.
    • Knowledge and Data of network system capabilities
    • Expertise in Network design
    • Preparing specifications to define and illustrate network designs and configurations.
    • Need to design network solution architecture and implementation documentation (customer and operational).
    • Provide network WAN/LAN design, implementation, consulting and leadership for data and congregated communication infrastructure utilizing available Network equipment.
    • Perform design integration for complex, cross-functional systems and lead technical design reviews of various infrastructure projects and function as a high-level technical resource.
    • Provide Network Design Engineering services in support of a global customers network.
    • Should develop network designs and cost models for customer specific opportunities and same to be presented to product and contract management teams.
    • Define and follow standards and best practices for network design, testing, and implementation methodology.
    • Experience developing network designs and cost models
    • Review the network design and bill of material with project manager and peer network engineers
    • Coordinate schedules, tasks, resources, and dependencies for network design projects.
    • Training the peers on end-to-end network designs and operating procedures.
    • Participate in on-call rotation.
    • Execute evening & weekend changes, as agreed within team.
    • Professional Certifications:
    • Ciena 6500 platforms

    • Responsibilities:
    • Provides high level and detailed consulting as network subject matter expert for Optical Network projects to deliver design and build circuits as well as sub-network
    • Plan, coordinate, install and support optical metro gear/hardware
    • Develops, communicates, and revises Optical network standards
    • Performs Optical Network ( Configuration, Testing, Monitoring, Operations and Network Management)
    • Maintains network documentation including Long-haul optical network maps, circuit drawings, and traffic flow diagrams
    • Plans, schedules, and creates change control records and performs configuration of network elements in a large-scale networking environment in conjunction with change control policies and procedures
    • Performs Tier 4 support functions for optical network problems in accordance with problem management process which may involve problems in network as well as other managed devices and services.
    • Escalates problems to the internal Network Engineering and external vendors as required and provides support to resolve escalated network issue
    • Performs RCA (Root Cause Analysis) on optical network issues;   identifies chronic problems and take action to identify and resolve the root cause, performs network configuration changes in response to client issues
    • Technical Skills:
    • Familiar with optical principles of fiber optic communication systems
    • Senior experience with Photonics and Broadband networks
    • Understand optical network troubleshooting at Layer 1 and Layer 2
    • Extensive hands on experience on Ciena products specifically Ciena 6500 and MCP
    • Deep knowledge in fiber characteristics, optical modules, optical protocols, system’s config, DWDM, OTN, wavelength assignment, optical signal amplification, standard testing  (ie. BERT, OTDR).  
    • CCNA with routing and switching fundamentals (preferred)
