Your Job:
 
The Apparel Engineer ensures timely development and commercialization of the global apparel line with a focus on fit. Responsible for solving manufacturing/prototyping issues and ensuring the fit of the line is consistent for the Brooks consumer, you collaborate with Design and the Apparel Developers to effectively achieve product creation goals.

Working with the Engineering team and Design team ahead of the season to align on blocks and the development team in establishing style measurement specs, the Apparel Engineer is a critical part of the development process from design concept through commercialization. You support proto-fit sessions and provide fit recommendations and solutions while improving products and processes taking ownership of styles from size set requests. Owning the commercialization of styles, the Appreal Engineer is responsible for finalizing style specifications and ensuring accurate information is communicated to our factory partners on time.

Your Responsibilites:

    • Partner with Apparel Developer in fit sessions to ensure consistent fit and style to meet Brooks fit standards across the range of Brooks products including mens and womens tops, bottoms and jackets.
    • Deep understanding of POM library, measurements, and graded templates in Flex PLM and guide team on its use.
    • Collaborate with the sample room to execute a wide range of prototypes including wear test garments.
    • Provide solutions and options to internal team and work with the Senior Engineer on providing direction to manufacturing partners on how to correct patterns to achieve desired fit.
    • Use in-depth knowledge of a block system and understanding of grade rules to maintain consistency in fit.
    • Work with Engineering team on revisions to patterns and measurements for fit to ensure specific design and functionality are met.
    • Finalise seasonal styles for production including BOM and spec finalization, size set approval, and factory alignment.
    • Utilize advanced technical garment construction skills and experience to provide feedback during fit, materials selection process, and testing review.
    • Assess garment specifications, POM, and grading and work with Senior Engineer to approve for use.
    • Lead size set fittings with internal team to ensure appropriate corrections are made to ensure our products meet Brooks standards for fit, construction, and quality.
    • Work with manufacturing partners to ensure all garment specifications, construction and quality updates are made and adhere to seasonal calendar.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate design and technical direction from a fit perspective and provide workable solutions.

Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of patternmaking and grading experience, with an emphasis on speed and accuracy within the Apparel field, preferably in activewear/sports categories
    • Experience with large size ranges, knowledge of body shapes and how shape affects fit to better inform pattern development.
    • Strong knowledge of patternmaking and fit fundamentals.
    • Product Development expertise.
    • Experience using 3D software in pattern development –Browzwear preferred
    • Computer literacy required with proficiency in MS Excel, Adobe Illustrator, and working knowledge of pattern software; Optitex preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication
    • Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company
    • Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our products, or other departments’ operations and/or morale; “connecting the dots.”

Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $40.49 - $60.75 per hour. Base pay offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
