Your Job:
As the Associate Manager, Industrial Engineering, Asia you will be responsible for leading the implementation and execution of the strategies of the industrial engineering team and reporting the data to engineering management. You advise colleagues in Lean manufacturing, product engineering, and costing regarding labor and data trends and provide guidance on how to optimize labor efficiency. You will lead a team of industrial engineers who collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external partners, building detailed data sets and using that information to influence daily work.
Communication will be key as you explain the details of the data and how the results can be adopted during the product development cycle and mass production. Knowledge of workflows, footwear construction methods, and the use of statistical methods allow your team show how to best utilize labor and machinery during production seasons. As the leader of the team, it will be critical for you to identify success metrics and work with your team to analyze data and propose solutions.
Your Responsibilities:
- Industrial Engineering Operations
- Lead execution of the team’s strategic goals; ensure the data framework for analyzing data is robust, consistent, and understood by multiple stakeholders
- Manage all aspects of the Industrial Engineering team in Asia including both programs and projects required to execute a defined strategy.
- Present seasonal data analysis to regional and senior management.
- Identify the tools and software needed by the team to analyze and design footwear processes.
- Build strong relationships with factory partners and vendors to ensure data is shared and understood, and action plans can be implemented.
- Communicate the status of projects and highlight gaps to senior management
- Establish and document team best practices that align with the development, commercialization, engineering, Lean, factory, and vendor teams
- Identify and develop Key Performance Indicators for team performance and periodic reporting to senior management
- Team Planning
- Develop the Industrial Engineering team operational plans to ensure successful execution and achievement of desired results.
- Contribute to Footwear Engineering organization planning to advocate and prioritize headcount needs to scale with business growth.
- Contribute to the department staffing/resource plan required to meet department deliverables.
- Develop a strong understanding of how the Industrial Engineering team fits into Footwear Engineering department objectives and build the tools and processes to successfully execute.
- People Management
- Lead team in defining the data collection and analysis methods used in labor calculations at Tier 1 and Tier 2 vendors.
- Grow your ability to manage employees effectively by building a solid foundation in Connect principles and basing decisions on company values.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to team members to build their skill sets and guide plans to help them develop opportunities to grow their career.
- Guide employees on decisions related to day-to-day operations and partner with your management team on HR related matters such as Sprints, Performance Management, Giving Feedback.
- Manage team work assignments and timelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with costing and factory partners on the sharing of seasonal labor data and align on opportunities to reduce costs.
- Partner with Lean manufacturing on planning and executing improvements in Tier 1 operations
- Facilitate change by influencing internal and external teams without authority.
- Other responsibilities as required.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or 5+ years of demonstrated field experience
- In lieu of degree, 7+ years of conducting industrial engineering activities in the manufacturing space
- 4+ years of experience conducting time and measurement studies.
- 4+ years of experience participating on teams focused on industrial engineering, optimization or lean efforts.
- 2+ years of management experience
- Proven success in measuring and creating standards for industrial engineering in manufacturing.
- Enhanced knowledge of footwear processes and manufacturing
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that inspire and build trust resulting in effective working relationships across the company.
- Ability to anticipate how a decision made can affect our customers, our partners, our products or other departments’ operations and/or morale; “connecting the dots.”
- Demonstration of innovation and initiative – always looking at improving our processes and products while also displaying a willingness to dive into the details and help wherever necessary.
- Possess the ability to understand and empathize with the runner in order to develop loyal, engaging relationships with our customers and the Brooks community.
- Travel 20% (Domestically/Internationally)
