Your job:

The Footwear Quality Assurance Engineer, Asia is responsible for front-line vendor quality support for the assigned Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 vendors to ensure product quality and consistency. You are responsible for both quality assurance and quality control of processes, components, and final products at both the Brooks Tier 1 factories and assigned Super Critical Foam (SCF) Tier 2 and Tier 3 vendors This role requires occasional in-person support on the production lines or in the finished good inspection room working alongside factory QA to monitor day-to-day operations, and auditing/elevating quality at Tier 2 vendors.  As a Footwear Quality Assurance Engineer, Asia, you apply knowledge and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and communicate next steps to support quality excellence across our factory groups through the enforcement of Brooks quality standards.

Your Responsibilities:

    • Train and certify Factory Hired Inspectors (FHI) to inspect final product. Test, evaluate and provide performance feedback for communication back to vendor via vendor scorecard. Work with factory QC to respond to issues identified during finished goods inspection with resolution plan in Brooks PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) system.
    • Perform regular audits to ensure factories adherence to Brooks PFC, Brooks In-Station-Quality Standard, Standardized Work, category requirements, and other Brooks quality / packaging checklists
    • Provide In-Station-Quality (ISQ) training to factory QA representatives who then provide factory operator training. Audit assigned Tier 1 production line to Brooks Factory Harmonized ISQ Standard, document results for communication back to vendor via vendor score card.
    • For Tier 1 flex capacity factories with less than 6 months of continuous production, provide in-person, hands-on support working alongside factory QA in the finished goods inspection room and on the production lines. This includes communicating Brooks Quality Standards to factory management, walking the production lines to identify any gaps in process and participating in finished goods inspection to call attention to any defects requiring rework
    • Perform finished goods inspection of marketing and special orders.
    • Collaborate with factory on builds associated with QA Fit test samples. Perform root cause analysis on QA Fit Test findings and document corrective action plan in Brooks PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) system to drive Right First-Time quality.
    • Enforce critical-to-quality updates to Brooks Process Flow Chart (PFC), manufacturing gage calibration schedule, machine maintenance and record keeping of factory equipment through daily production line presence to detect any potential product quality issues as expeditiously as possible.
    • Detect and report unusual or non-conforming documentation, materials, or conditions to the Factory group supervisor. Mentor and motivate Tier 1 factory team in facilitating problem solving using root cause analysis, fishbone diagram and A3 thinking to drive issue resolution. Escalate gaps when needed.
    • Drive continuous improvement and resolution of quality issues at Tier 1 and Super Critical Foam (SCF) Tier 2 vendors. Provide insight and analysis to the SCF Tier 2 vendors in preparing monthly continuous improvement meeting report on Brooks template. Identify issues and perform root cause analysis using Brooks PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) system. Present to cross-functional team and HQ for alignment and best practice sharing as needed.
    • Audit assigned Tier 2 and Tier 3 vendors for adherence to Brooks Vendor Manual. Enforce Brooks quality standard through the manufacturing process. Prepare audit report and submit into system directly following the audit. Support Vendor Scorecard preparation. Provide recommendations for review at Manager level. Audit and on-board new vendors, as needed.
    • Collect and analyze test data to prepare and report on projects at Monthly Quality Team meetings. 

Your Qualifications:

    • Bachelors in quality management, Engineering, or Business-related technical field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 
    • 3+ years of consumer goods QA experience, footwear/apparel industry preferred relevant experience
    • Fluent in English and local language (writing and speaking) - ability to communicate clearly with other teams.
    • Communication, organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Basic understanding of footwear production process
    • Proactive, assertive, and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
