The Los Angeles Brotherhood Crusade is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1968 to enrich the lives of youth, seniors, homeless populations, economically disadvantaged families, and under-served individuals in South Los Angeles by providing and facilitating a variety of essential educational services, social services, cultural activities, vocational opportunities and economic empowerment opportunities.

SUMMARY
 The College & Career Success Program Director will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of the South Los Angeles Youth WorkSource Center college access program. The position will develop and establish a post-secondary program including the outreach, recruitment, teaching and providing provision of services to a cohort of students and parents with college awareness advising sessions, workshops, and/or events on a weekly basis.
The goal of the South Los Angeles Youth WorkSource Center is to provide services to youth who are engaged in improving their life by developing social and vocational skills that lead to self-reliance and subsequently advance their career objectives.​ The College & Career Success Program Director will work with the Youth WorkSource Leadership team to develop collaborative efforts that directly establish and instruct appropriate curriculum in partnership with employers and workforce training institutions.  This position guides the work of staff that assist youth in achieving their individual employment and college plans as it relates to their readiness to succeed in college, interviews, internships and job placement.​ Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
      Motivate, Inspire and have vision
        Strategize implementation and plan for achieving outcomes as required by various grants and Brotherhood Crusade
      Develop measures for bench-marking achievement of milestones and progress indicators along the way
        Foster collaboration opportunities with community partners
        Identify and develop quality programming to meet the needs of the community
        Daily troubleshooting and problem solving
        Provide regular outcome and evaluation reports as requested
        Prepare reports for Brotherhood Crusade senior management
        Establish effective relationships with private, non-profit and community partners
        Develop programs and activities to motivate participant’s participation and retention
        Monitor departmental budget and track expenditures
        Manage staff; hire, train and develop staff
        Responsible for program plan and implementation
        Develop and evaluate curriculum and instructional workshops
        Resolve issues pertaining to delivery of services with respect to local college access programs
        Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, school, community, and partner personnel
        Develop systems to maintain records of applicants not selected for employment and create support plans with Case Managers.
        Oversee youth workforce projects including those related to:
         Tutoring and enrichment services to improve academic skills
         Recreational programs
         College and career services
         Financial literacy services
      Develop and maintain database and statistics as required by program and funding sources.​
      Participate in staff meetings, supervision, training programs and other meetings as required.​
        Work closely with the case management staff in keeping open communication and interaction to meet customer satisfaction and job placement goals.
        Design, coordinate, and implement student and parent services at the Youth WorkSource site
        Develop programming in areas such as post-secondary education options, financial aid, career exploration through workshops, events, individual and small group counseling and classroom presentation
        Ensure student participants and parents are served from the surrounding high schools and local community colleges.
        Provide training for case managers in areas such as, but not limited to the following: postsecondary preparation, financial aid and college selection, academic preparation
        Ensure that all objectives are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
        Resolve issues pertaining to delivery of services with respect to local college access programs
        Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, school, community, and partner personnel
        Attend community events, forums, and other events that relate to the goals and objectives of the program
        Participate in community meetings, staff meetings, parent coordinators meetings, and trainings that relate to the goals and objectives of the program
        Complete required reports and update supervisor weekly
        Guide services and curriculum development to ensure that objectives are met
        Responsible for managing program outcomes
        Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
●            Bachelor degree in social sciences or similar field.
●            At least three years of paid experience in workforce development, case management/career counseling, and /or recruiting.
●            Minimum 3-5 years’ experience, providing direct services to students and parents, multicultural populations or under-prepared students.
●            Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with school personnel, after school personnel, program officers, evaluators, parents, students and community professionals.
●            Experience working in collaboration with mentoring, after-school, and other activities (such as events, workshops, field trips) that relate to the goals and objectives of the program.
●            Excellent oral and written communication skills.
●            Demonstrated competency with technology, internet, software, etc.
●            Demonstrated competency with record-keeping, documentation and data management.
●            Ability to teach service delivery skills to volunteers, interns, peer mentors, and high school students.
●            Expertise in program design and availability to decision making regarding participant service delivery and liability.
●            Ability to provide leadership and coordination of day-to-day programming.
●            Knowledge of principles and processes for providing outstanding customer service.
●            Strong knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, selecting, hiring.
●            Self-starter, organized and detail-oriented.
●            Ability to work effectively as a team member.
●            Ability to communicate openly and effectively with all staff.
●            Strong problem-solving ability, organizational skills and deadline-driven.  Must have independent judgment and problem-solving ability.
●            Must be available to work flexible schedule (some mornings, some evenings).
●            Job requires a willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges. Ability to work under only general supervision, self-starter, ability to effectively multi-task.
●            Must be punctual and deadline-driven.
●            Must have access to reliable transportation for frequent travel between sites.
●            Job requires being open to change and to considerable variety in the workplace.
●            Experience facilitating workshops.
●            Strong computer skills.
●            Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
●            Bilingual/Spanish a plus
●            If applicable, will be required to present current California driver license, proof of acceptable driving record (DMV H-6 printout), and liability auto insurance
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES FOR ALL POSITIONS
The ideal candidate shall possess a passion and commitment to the betterment of all individuals, especially low income and at-risk individuals.  The candidate must: have an acuity for implementing alternative/innovative programming; demonstrate patience with “hardest to serve, hardest to teach” individuals; demonstrate competence through education and experience; understand human nature and be able to provide reasonable counsel; possess demonstrable leadership skills; have strong interpersonal skills; have strong organizational skills; and have a clean criminal record.  In addition, the candidate should have at least 2 years of experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.


$80,000 - $90,000 a year
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid California Driver's License.

Due to our in-person and in office work with LAUSD, City of LA, County of LA and other work partners that require our team to be vaccinated we require that all potential candidates must be COVID-19 vaccinated with either, Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EQUIPMENT USED
The successful candidate will be required to report to and work from the office complex at least five days a week. Offices are traditionally equipped with computers, telephones, desks, chairs, and office machines. Additionally, each office offers an instructional classroom from which orientations and trainings are conducted.

SALARY RANGE:
Benefits and salary will be negotiated based on experience, education, and the needs of the program.
