The Los Angeles Brotherhood Crusade is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1968 to enrich the lives of youth, seniors, homeless populations, economically disadvantaged families, and under-served individuals in South Los Angeles by providing and facilitating a variety of essential educational services, social services, cultural activities, vocational opportunities and economic empowerment opportunities.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Human Resources Manager collaborates closely with the leadership team to advise on HR functions and issues. The HR Manager will drive the organization's people agenda, aligning it with the mission while ensuring compliance with labor laws as the organization grows. This role focuses on fostering an employee-oriented, high-performance culture in line with Brotherhood Crusade's values of integrity, compassion, accountability, diversity, and commitment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Develop and implement HR Strategies aligned with the organization's mission, vision and goals • Provide leadership and guidance on HR matters, including policies and procedures • Lead talent management, succession planning, and employee retention initiatives • Ensure HR compliance with state and federal laws • Establish performance SLAs, metrics and talent acquisition strategies to ensure appropriate talent is identified, recruited, deployed, developed, promoted and retained • Implement standardized hiring and onboarding processes • Lead the implementation of new technology (i.e.: performance mgmt. system or HRIS) • Design HR training programs for managers and employees with reference materials • Foster positive employee relations practices that promote high morale and motivation • Maintain an up-to-date organization chart and employee directory • Manage employee benefits and vendor relationships to comply with enrollment schedules • Partner with management to ensure communication of programs, policies, procedures & guidelines are provided timely to all employees • Monitor and advise managers and supervisors on appropriate discipline strategies • Resolve any escalated issues or risks regarding employee complaints or concerns • Recommend people practices that promote a high level of morale and motivation • Manage employee communication and feedback through avenues such as staff meetings, employee surveys, newsletters, one-on-one meetings, etc. • Understand cultural norms and traditions and be passionate about Brotherhood Crusade’s vision and mission • Fulfill any other duties as requested or required by the organization

QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training: • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources Mgmt., Business Administration, or related field • 5-7 years or more of experience in human resources management • Proficiency in federal and state employment laws • Possess relevant HR certifications like PHR (Professional in Human Resources) or SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional) Related Experience: • 5-7 years’ demonstrated experience managing organizational change and employee relations investigations • 2-4 years’ engaged with unique challenges and compliance requirements faced by non-profit organizations Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Ability to maintain confidentiality, objectivity and a professional demeanor • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Excels in collaborating and working in a team environment • Excellent problem-solving skills • Self-starter, able to work independently, and enjoys crafting and implementing new initiatives

$85,000 - $100,000 a year
SALARY & BENEFITS 
Salary will be based on experience. We offer medical, dental and vision benefits.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid California Driver's License.

Due to our in-person and in office work with LAUSD, City of LA, County of LA and other work partners that require our team to be vaccinated we require that all potential candidates must be COVID-19 vaccinated with either, Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson.

WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EQUIPMENT USED
The successful candidate will be required to report to and work from the office complex at least five days a week. Offices are traditionally equipped with computers, telephones, desks, chairs, and office machines. Additionally, each office offers an instructional classroom from which orientations and trainings are conducted.

SALARY RANGE:
Benefits and salary will be negotiated based on experience, education, and the needs of the program.
