Senior Estimator - Special Projects

The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a team or independently and have outstanding interpersonal skills, adjusting to changing priorities from various directives, and communicate effectively. You should be organized, accurate, and detail orientated. This position is in our Tenant Improvement (Retail, Restaurant, Office, Hospitality) and Special Projects (Seismic, Public Work, Healthcare, Life Science, Institutional) division. The Estimator is responsible for all aspects of estimating including pre-construction, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, systems studies and comparisons, value engineering, subcontractor relations, and staying abreast of industry developments applicable to estimating. Must have Commercial Experience.

Responsibilities:

    • Supporting our Team
    • Prepares detailed quantity surveys and conceptual cost estimates from the early conceptual phase through construction plans
    • Prepares variance summaries between estimates
    • Prepares budgets
    • Oversees subcontracting process, prepares detailed bid package estimates by trade, and assists with the preconstruction team to develop written bid packages.
    • Prepares an in-house budget and GMP
    • Prepares quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for material and labor to establish a value for the work.
    • Understand the full scope of the project through document review and asking questions of the design team and owner.
    • Manages the Subcontractor solicitation & selection process.

    • Exceptional Math skills(calculus, statistics) and Financial Analysis
    • Bilingual; optional but very helpful to communicate with a diverse workforce
    • Understand and interpret direction quickly and efficiently
    • Interpret oral and written instructions and directions from multiple people
    • Confront and resolve issues, make decisions
    • People-ability to communicate effectively with a culturally and ethnically diverse workforce.
    • Analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop and implement sound courses of action

Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and/or Master's degree in and/or Construction Management /Civil Engineering desirable
    • Proven Analytical in the areas of problem-solving, quality focus investigative skills in process improvement.
    • Understanding of the principles of Construction Management,
    • Knowledge of Technology Programs, Timberline, On-Screen Take-Off, and Excel
    • Proficient in relevant computer applications
$130,000 - $160,000 a year
