About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Program Manager with a hands-on approach and a strong engineering background to lead a highly visible initiative to modernize Business Wire’s technology stack end-to-end. You will work closely with product managers, software architects, software development teams, and executive stakeholders to coordinate activities across multiple development teams resulting in continuous improvement and efficiencies. You will need to articulate technology choices and decisions to a diverse group and be able to influence them and ensure that design and implementation meet stated requirements. You will create the required level of visibility across related projects and visualize overall progress using dashboards and other tools. You also will develop and communicate project milestones and schedules as well as publicize achievements.  In all, this role is an exciting mix of solid technical complexity, partnering with product team and executive stakeholders, and communication and delivery excellence.

What You'll Do

    • Drive the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of projects across multiple teams with a hands-on approach.
    • Break down complex business requirements into manageable projects.
    • Facilitate architectural analysis and engineering design efforts.
    • Communicate technical and product decisions ensuring alignment across teams and stakeholders at all levels.
    • Lead delivery of solutions in an Agile and timely manner, providing direction as well as firsthand execution of deliverables when needed.
    • Effectively communicate progress to stakeholders via dashboards, reports, and other methods.
    • Refine and improve Agile methodology and adopt new techniques, such as Shape Up methodology.
    • Improve utilization of Agile tools, such as Jira and Confluence.

What You'll Need

    • 7+ years of software engineering program and product management experience.  Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Project Management Professional (PMP), Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), or similar certifications are a plus.
    • 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams including the proven ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks, remove roadblocks, and resolve issues. 
    • 5+ years of prior hands-on software development experience.  Thorough understanding of design, development, testing, and build and release processes for complex software. 
    • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes, and coordinating release schedules.
    • Proven success in direct execution of projects and programs in addition to oversight experience.
    • Ability to engage at every level of project and program management and provide firsthand support (an “all hands on deck” approach).
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.  The ability to influence without authority, and drive technical discussion and change.

      What We Offer
      The base salary range for this position is $175K to $190K/year.  Offered salary will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to: applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.  Business Wire reserves the right to modify this salary range at any time.
