Editorial – Mic
Mic is looking for a Lifestyle Editor to lead its health, food, career, personal finance, and travel coverage. In this role, you will work with the senior editor to conceive and oversee a service-focused lifestyle vertical through the lens of important issues Mic’s coverage engages with, including inclusivity, diversity, and sustainability. Part of this role will include assigning and editing health, money, travel, wellness, and career stories that are relevant to Mic readers. The ideal candidate is a sharp editor who is passionate about finding new, creative approaches to service content that guides young people toward living well, and cares deeply about responsible, colorful, and original storytelling.


    • Edit quickly and accurately under tight deadlines
    • Assign news, quick-hit service pieces, as well as longer features to a team of 3-4 part-time writers Develop series and franchises related to work, money, travel, and wellness
    • Build a network of sources and freelancers 
    • Oversee traffic and performance of lifestyle stories


    • 3-5 years of experience in writing, editing, or reporting
    • Experience with service journalism
    • Creative, independent, and outside-the-box thinking
    • An understanding of how service journalism can touch on Mic’s other areas of coverage, including politics, identity, and social justice 
    • Social media, newsletter or audience engagement experience a plus
