About the Job: 
 
We are looking for an inspired, sharp, and customer-obsessed Copy Manager to define and lead our brand voice, and all copywriting execution, as we continue building a high-engagement, subscription-based brand with a mission to bring better meat and seafood to every table. We are looking for a dynamic Copy Manager who is equally talented at both copywriting and managing a team of copywriters. The ButcherBox Copy Manger will play a pivotal role on the Brand and Creative Team at ButcherBox, honing, refining, and advancing the ButcherBox voice. 
 
This person will be responsible for overseeing all copy that ButcherBox creates. From site landing pages, email campaigns, mission driven content, social paid ad copy and so much more. This role requires having a keen grasp for language, campaign concepting, storytelling, strong communication (written + verbal), and editing. The ideal candidate will be proactive, collaborative, authentic and humble. 

Our marketing team embraces a hybrid model that provides personal flexibility as well as in-person collaboration. The ideal candidate will find value in coming to our Watertown office twice per week for face-to-face strategy sessions, taking the occasional meeting on a walk around the river trails, and complementary catered lunch every Tuesday and Wednesday!
 
What you’ll be responsible for: 
 
 Copy Strategy & Execution (60%) 
•Lead the development of all customer-facing copy across diverse brand touchpoints, including the website, email, social media, video, packaging, and acquisition marketing. As the voice of our brand, you’ll ensure that every word reflects our identity while driving both engagement and revenue. This role demands a balance of creativity and strategic thinking—crafting copy that not only sounds great but delivers on the stated objectives. 
 Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration (20%) 
•Manage and mentor a team of copywriters, fostering a collaborative environment where creativity thrives. You’ll ensure cohesion across all copy outputs and partner closely with Creative, Site Experience, Commercial, Merchandising, PR, and Marketing teams to align messaging with business priorities. Be the champion of brand consistency, ensuring copy supports the overall brand guidelines while adapting for different channels and audiences. 
 Brand Voice Development (15%) 
•Define and continuously evolve and refine the brand voice, ensuring it remains fresh, relevant, and impactful as ButcherBox scales. You’ll contribute to the “why” behind the words—partnering with the Brand and Mission teams to shape positioning across product launches and master brand narrative through thoughtful messaging frameworks. 
 Optimization & Process Improvement (5%) 
•Utilize performance insights and customer data to iterate on copy and improve KPIs. Work with Creative to identify and implement process optimizations that drive efficiency across the copy team’s workflows. You’ll also proactively seek new opportunities to improve how we communicate and connect with our customers.

What you’ll bring: 
 
•5+ years' experience working as a copywriter with 2+ years of management experience 
•Proven ability to showcase an excellent writing voice 
•Strong portfolio with solid writing skills and creative thinking 
•Strong experience in digital content optimization, landing pages, email marketing, SMS strategy, and integrated campaigns 
•Exceptional organizational, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills 
•Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail and brand consistency 
•Familiarity with consumer insights and analytics to inform content strategy and copy decisions 
•Passionate about premium consumer experiences
$108,000 - $120,000 a year
