Our client is a globally recognized general contractor specializing in large-scale marine and civil infrastructure projects. They are looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee and drive the successful delivery of a major marine construction project in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. This is a senior leadership role requiring expertise in project execution, contract management, and stakeholder coordination.
What you will do
- Project Leadership & Strategy:
- Take full responsibility for the successful execution of the project, ensuring it is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Develop and implement project execution strategies, ensuring compliance with contractual, financial, and operational objectives.
- Manage the entire project lifecycle, from pre-construction planning to completion and handover.
- Contract & Financial Management:
- Oversee project budgeting, cost control, and financial forecasting, ensuring profitability and financial health.
- Lead contract negotiations, claims management, and variation orders to mitigate risks and maintain commercial viability.
- Manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure contract compliance.
- Technical Oversight & Execution:
- Ensure the coordination of engineering, procurement, and construction activities, aligning them with project goals.
- Lead complex civil and marine infrastructure projects, including jetties, breakwaters, harbor infrastructure, and terminal developments.
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, and risk management, optimizing workflows for efficiency.
- Drive project progress by ensuring all teams adhere to technical specifications and industry standards.
- Stakeholder & Team Management:
- Act as the primary interface between the client, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams, ensuring smooth coordination across various project phases.
- Proactively resolve conflicts, project delays, and unforeseen challenges while maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Health, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards, implementing measures to maintain a safe worksite.
- Enforce compliance with ISO regulations, environmental guidelines, and legal requirements.
How you will qualify
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Additional certifications in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2), Contract Management, or HSE Compliance are highly advantageous.
- Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in project management roles, specifically in large-scale marine and civil infrastructure projects.
- Strong expertise in managing complex projects, including jetties, breakwaters, harbors, and terminals.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale budgets, contractual agreements, and claims resolution.
- Extensive experience in stakeholder and risk management, particularly in marine infrastructure.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong contractual, financial, and commercial acumen, with a deep understanding of FIDIC or similar contract frameworks.
- Expertise in procurement, cost control, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams in high-pressure environments.
- Proficiency in project planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Fluency in English (German is a plus but not mandatory).
