For one of our clients operating in the Waste to Energy (WTE) industry, we are recruiting a Project Director.
Our client is a global leader in delivering innovative waste-to-energy solutions, transforming waste into renewable energy and contributing to environmental sustainability. With a strong commitment to resource efficiency and cutting-edge technology, they are focused on developing high-impact projects that help address the world’s growing waste management challenges.
As the Project Director for waste-to-energy projects in France, you will lead the management and delivery of large-scale waste-to-energy infrastructure projects. This role focuses on ensuring that these complex, high-value projects are executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The successful candidate will be required to work on-site in France, either under a permanent employment contract or, if preferred, on a freelance basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and completion of waste-to-energy projects, ensuring all project phases are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Technical Expertise: Leverage your extensive knowledge of waste-to-energy technologies and processes to guide project teams and ensure that engineering solutions meet industry standards and client needs.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with key stakeholders, including local authorities, regulatory bodies, contractors, and clients, to align project objectives and facilitate seamless communication.
- Team Leadership: Build and manage a multidisciplinary project team, ensuring collaboration across engineering, construction, and operations teams to deliver high-quality results.
- Risk and Compliance Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with local regulations, environmental guidelines, and contractual obligations.
- Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial performance are closely monitored throughout the project lifecycle.
- Quality and Safety Standards: Enforce stringent quality control and safety standards, ensuring that all waste-to-energy projects are delivered in accordance with international best practices and local safety regulations.
- Reporting and Communication: Regularly update senior management on project progress, including key milestones, challenges, and solutions to maintain transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field relevant to the Waste to Energy industry.
- Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects, with specific expertise in waste-to-energy technologies and processes.
- Proven track record of delivering high-value projects (€50 million+) in waste-to-energy or similar industries.
- In-depth understanding of French regulations related to energy and environmental projects.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
- Fluent in both French and English (written and spoken).
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

Contract Type:
