Our client, a leading international engineering and construction company, has been entrusted with delivering the €100 million MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) scope of a €600 million investment in a cutting-edge glass production facility in Lommel. This large-scale industrial project is set to become one of Belgium’s most significant developments, and our client plays a critical role in its successful delivery.
As an HSE Advisor, you will take the lead on health and safety for a major MEP construction project in Lommel, Belgium. You’ll oversee safety compliance for approximately 200 blue-collar workers, driving a strong safety culture and ensuring strict adherence to Belgian regulations.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive site-specific HSE plans.
- Lead site-wide inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Provide training programs and toolbox talks to workers and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with Belgian and EU health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Report, investigate, and follow up on incidents, near misses, and unsafe practices.
- Advise site management and subcontractors on HSE matters and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain up-to-date safety documentation for internal and external audits.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in health and safety roles, preferably in large-scale construction projects.
- Certified Prevention Advisor Level II (mandatory) or equivalent qualification in Belgium.
- Excellent knowledge of Belgian and EU HSE regulations.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence and guide site teams.
- Strong communication skills for engaging workers and subcontractors.
Languages
- English required
- Dutch or French is an asset
