About the Role 
We are seeking a highly motivated Policy Engagement Intern to support our Policy Program Manager and policy development & support team. This intern will play a key role in strengthening CALSTART’s national network of clean transportation stakeholders and champions. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to the current political climate. 

What You Will Be Doing

    • Map and strengthen our network by engaging directly with companies, including fleets, manufacturers, utilities and technology providers.  
    • Drive business engagement to further our policy efforts and achieve real wins that move the clean transportation industry forward.  
    • Facilitate conversations with companies to capture key insights on their policy priorities, political challenges, and engagement needs.  
    • Contribute to ongoing projects, including industry briefings, presentations and engagement summaries – and contribute to other policy-related initiatives as needed.  
    • Other duties as assigned.  

What You Bring To The Table

    • Completed at least three years of accredited college/university level coursework.    
    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Communications Urban Studies, Transportation Planning, Sustainability Management, Business Administration or a related field. 
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and task management abilities. 
    • Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and audiences. 
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced remote work environment. 
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in internal and external teams with a proactive, solution-oriented approach. 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 
    • Ability to work independently in a remote work environment. 
$16 - $21 an hour
CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $16-21 per hour. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job.
