About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Community Engagement Intern, CMO to support our Deputy Director of Innovative Mobility and innovative mobility team. You’ll contribute to projects that directly impact the implementation of our Local Travel Network (LTN) Outreach Strategy. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to a statewide incentive program in California.
What You Will Be Doing
- Assist in the execution of the SBCCOG Local Travel Network Outreach Plan (including attending in person outreach events).
- Draft outreach materials, including content for flyers, presentations, and community feedback tools.
- Support coordination and logistics for public events, pop-ups, and engagement activities.
- Compile and synthesize community input and survey data into summary reports.
- Track outreach activities and stakeholder engagement in a centralized system.
- Develop a summary presentation or visual product capturing key outreach findings and highlights.
- Provide general planning support for related mobility equity initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
- Completed at least three years of accredited college/university level coursework.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Public Policy, Sustainability Studies, Transportation Planning, Community/Regional Planning or a related field.
- Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders and audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and task management abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in internal and external teams with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Experience or coursework in community engagement, mobility planning, or environmental justice.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Familiarity with survey tools, data visualization, or communications platforms is a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is highly desired.
$16 - $21 an hour
CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $16-21 per hour. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job.
