Catalyst is a full-service marketing agency serving off-campus student housing properties, multifamily properties, mixed-use properties, and residential real estate clients. We specialize in branding and marketing efforts that assist our clients in leasing up to their desired goal.
The Director of Digital Strategy is responsible for leading and growing digital aspects of client relationships in collaboration with Brand Strategy, its counterpart department within the Client Strategy team. This role is both a team leadership role and a subject matter expertise role, requiring a skillful balance of high people and emotional intelligence alongside a well-rounded scope of expertise in paid media platforms, social media, and organic search.
You will be assisting in the shaping and build-out of a newly designed team structure consisting of digital strategists and digital specialists who report to this role. Digital Strategists are client facing roles which function similarly to traditional account managers, and Digital Specialists are subject matter experts focused on paid media platforms, organic search, and social media. The Director role will provide overall direction and long-term growth opportunities for the agency, the client, and team and have voice, latitude, and the expectation to produce a high-functioning, high-spirited team that drives results. The Director of Digital Strategy will have a birds-eye view on all digital accounts and will create conditions where others thrive and produce the best possible work.
It’s the Director of Digital Strategy’s responsibility to set the tone and mood of the team and to manage the structure and day- to-day running of the account and efficiently engage different agency functions when appropriate. The Director of Digital Strategy is an innovative, strategic thinker, always keeping an eye on emerging marketing trends and facilitating ways to bring new ideas and services to the agency. They also must also be financially minded, recognizing opportunities for ongoing profitability.
This role will report directly to the Vice President of Client Strategy.
Key Responsibilities
1. New business media spend recommendations
2. Client communication for high priority accounts
3. Oversee reporting processes, and Review/complete client reports
4. Review and complete campaign optimizations
5. Lead digital campaign trainings
6. Create efficiencies in the digital campaign processes
7. Support and manage Digital Strategists and Digital Specialists
8. Oversee all digital media spend and billing
10. QA new campaign setups
11. Attend all new digital client kick-offs
12. Work closely with the Director of Brand Strategy to improve campaign creative
Required Experience
1. 5+ years of experience in agency account management or managing multiple properties is a requirement
2. 3+ years of experience in team management
3. 7+ years of digital marketing experience (PPC, SEO, social media marketing)
4. Must be experienced in Google Ads, Google Analytics, and Facebook Ad Manager with relevant certifications on each platform.
5. Must demonstrate proficiency and successful case studies from working with a variety of clients and projects
6. Client experience in student housing, commercial real estate, multifamily housing, university marketing, senior living, finance, or real estate development is highly preferred.
CORE COMPETENCIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
· Acquire in-depth knowledge of, and be conversant in, each client’s business – their key issues, competitive situation, performance indicators, and industry trends.
· Demonstrate confidence and authority as the day-to-day voice of the agency team.
· Lead the Digital Strategy team with the development of annual marketing plans and budgets.
· Monitor current client budgets and develop areas of opportunity and revenue growth.
· Provide direction and training to clients on digital strategy and performance.
· Setup and implement strategic changes to client campaigns.
STAFF AND PROJECT LEADERSHIP
· Understand our Gold Standard methods, and adapt all professional working practices to uphold this standard and encourage staff to adhere to it.
· Identify processes for client-facing and non-client facing team members, specializing in SEO and SEM.
· Work with the project manager on key project needs, and to set budgets and timeline expectations.
· Effectively gather project/campaign requests and details.
· Create project briefs and strategic briefs.
· Establish a rapport and trust with direct reports – acknowledging the expectations of and on others, identifying team and campaign needs, remaining open to considering multiple points of view.
· Encourage and demonstrate unity behind team and agency decision-making.
· Must be self-driven and able to review and find efficiencies regarding the digital strategy department.
ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS
· Demonstrate an ability to organize workload and workflow.
· Effectively plan and organize your day-to-day priorities – handling multiple projects and campaigns efficiently, effectively, and productively.
· Provide effective and efficient oversight of agency resources to ensure projects are delivered as promised in terms of time, budgets, and results

PRESENTATION/SELLING SKILLS
• Effectively present the agency’s decisions, recommendations, and campaign performance to a range of client audiences.
• Develop and demonstrate a clear, comfortable, persuasive presentation style for both formal and informal settings.
• Be well rehearsed and prepared for the unexpected.
• Make certain presentation support materials are consistent and in line with the agency’s expectations of quality
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
• Provide clear, thorough written direction to team and customers.
• Be confident and comfortable in spending time on the phone with customers.
• Deliver concise, accurate, and actionable accounts of meetings and discussions.
• Develop persuasive summary and recommendation documents for presentation to client and agency decision-makers.
• Contribute to project and/or annual client planning documents.
COMPUTER SKILLS
• The Director of Digital Strategy should be proficient in Dropbox, Google Editor suite, and Microsoft programs, time-tracking system, and other key tools utilized by the agency.
